Admin, polite request - please delete the thread - there is more than enough in there to get the trial stopped if anybody stumbles upon it, and for there to be consequences for allowing it. I was a Crown Court Clerk for 17 years. Thanks.
I can only assume there are numerous similar threads on many football forums around the UK? Will the Ghislane Maxwell trial also be halted due to social media gossip and judgement? However, I will bow to your superior experience if I am wrong.
Most of the things spoken about in this thread are readily available online. Facts about the defendants prior crimes and misdemeanours. The topic of this case and ramifications have also been mentioned in the media. The defendant on many occasions has made made comments online.
I’ve had a few messages advising to move it just to be safe. Advisory more than anything. Feels the sensible move to me. Especially without knowing where the case is at and where various parties might go for their evidence. Also, not worth the risk is it? Nobody footing any legal bills should it come to that
How about a Chloe Darton trial thread whereby she is accused of assaulting Danielle Grendel? Would that be ok
Chloe got so many 2nd chances after committing so many violent crimes. However I heard she once read Voltaire to make herself sound intelligent.
Yeah I don't get why it's been moved either. It's being talked about all over the place. If what people said online mattered that much then Maxwell wouldn't be on trial as it would have collapsed.
The right of forum administrators and providers has to be respected, and there is no upside to them if they feel they are taking a chance by letting a thread continue. Having said that, I agree with Darfield138 that there was nothing in the thread that could have compromised the ongoing trial. There was some interesting technical discussion of evidential points however.
Spot on Loko, you never know if a Jury has been selected based on certain factors. Not knowing anything about him or the incident.
The jury were asked if they had heard of Joey Barton, or had any opinions of him. They were also asked if they were supporters of Barnsley or Fleetwood: Joey Barton trial: Jury selected to hear Barnsley assault allegations - BBC News
Anything that’s said that can influence or might influence a juror, that is outside of what the evidence is in the trial. Bad character issues straight away, for instance.
