better diagnosis, less stigma. Also, it's genetic, a lot are getting diagnosed as adults after their children have been diagnosed, recognising autistic traits in themselves.

I think it wasn't until the 1980s that you were allowed to write left handed . I just missed the cut but before they'd force left handers to write right handed .

I'm a proud southpaw in a house with only lefties living in it. Shocking folk were forced to use their right hand.
Weird that school teachers still make a point about a child using their left hand. Had it mentioned in every one of my little uns reports over the past 2 years.

No that can't be right. I'm left handed and it was never an issue at school in the 60s and 70s.

That is very, very strange. As I said in another post I was never discouraged from being left-handed. My mother was thankful as she said in her day, your left hand would be tied behind you back to force kids to use their right. I'm amazed it's an issue today.

    LEFT HANDERS MATTER.

Only going on hearsay of a number of people I've met over the years who say it happened to them . Maybe it differed from school to school or individual teachers .

As DavisCurriesMullet said above left-handedness gets commented on even today and to me that is just weird. It's like accents though. Supposedly there's a big trend in people taking election lessons to get rid of their accents.

Strange how auto-correct decided that I meant election instead of elecution. And the *******'s still doing it

Well I'm 75 (just) and recall having my fingers tapped with rule to encourage me to change hands when writing. I would suggest that being left handed in a right handed world makes us more adaptable. It could be worse, I could be ginger as well and be subject to even more abuse.

If USA with a third of a billion population are not worried about it spreading, we might be fine.

We don't panic as much as Greece though who have gone crazy by charging people a monthly fee to remain unvaccinated.

In primary school/nursery I suppose there is nothing wrong with the early school report/parents evening referencing the fact a child is showing a predisposition to use the left hand when learning to write/draw/paint. My grand daughter now 4 going on 5 is now preferring to use her left hand for many things (comes from her father's family side where there are several lefties including him) but has tended to use either hand for many other things. It is worth highlighting to parents in cases some of them are not aware.
As an aside, for any scientists/engineers reading this .... I have never understood why scissors have to be manufactured as left or right handed. I know using right handed ones with the left hand don't work (I have tried it) but why? The 'shearing' action should apply regardless of which cutting edge is at the top. after all you don't have left or right handed knives!

Most knives are sharpened equally from both sides, however I do believe some specialist knives are only sharpened on one edge and you’d have L or RH versions of those.
