People have the right to choose what they want. After all the vaccine is a clinical trial. Nobody will know for a while the real outcome. Anyone who tries to force someone else's freedom of choice is going against their great grandfathers wills. Same as people who judge people for having the vaccine.

Personally imo. turn the news off. Do what you believe is the best because we live in society now no matter what path you choose. People will judge. The world is more divided since all this....I have my opinions and no I don't believe covid is a hoax but something aint right. Theirs more to this than anyone thinks...

I completely understand the frustrations they must face, especially working within the shambolic system the NHS is.
If you then take that view of frustration on idiots causing burden to the NHS and apply to all scenarios not just Covid you find yourself frustrated with a large percentage of the population.

Love the great grandfathers' wills bit.
They fought for, and subsequently voted for, a democracy based on social welfare where the interests of all were protected and extended by the state.
I'd actually love to see you and your like minded cohorts given an island where you can actually practise the freedoms you really want. i.e the freedom to do whatever YOU want regardless of others. It would be carnage within 12 months.

He's a member of the medical profession (assuming the account to be genuine) expressing frustration and concern that beds are being taken up and blocking treatment for others because the user didn't take a vaccine.

Nowhere does he suggest that the user should have been refused an ICU bed.

Just imagine for a second that you are the cancer patient told that you may now die because someone refused a vaccine.

I cannot reconcile your view that this person is a pr1ck who should be stuck off. In fact I think that is an utterly bizarre response.

"if you choose to opt out of the vaccine then logically you choose to opt out of all supportive hospital care including ICU"

    Yes he does.

That's certainly a dangerous path to take and one that goes completely against the ethos of the NHS . People smoke , people drink , people over eat etc etc which leads to complications later on in life but we treat them non the less . It comes as no surprise that Twitter account is anonymous , could be anybody .

Is speeding or driving like an idiot a momentary lapse of judgement? Does everyone drinking litres of full sugar soft drinks and ordering Dominos every night truly have an addiction, or just some of them? Is a generally unhealthy lifestyle just a momentary lapse of judgement too?

There's risks associated with the vaccine. They might be tiny, but they're still there. If someone wishes to not take that risk then we shouldn't be punishing them for it and treating them like lepers.

and if it was your family member being bumped from cancer treatment for someone who made a choice not to protect themselves for a tiny risk. What would your view be then? Or if you were a clinician having to limit care because of the actions of a minority indoctrinated by internet misinformation what would your view be then?

I'm off the opinion it's a personal choice to get the vaccine. I'd be just as annoyed if a family member was 'bumped' due to some idiot causing scenes in town, driving like a lunatic to cause an accident, or someone living an unhealthy lifestyle without a medical background to justify it.

It isn't all internet misinformation. It might be a viewpoint you massively disagree with, and there might be misinformation out there, but not all of it. Just like all the Covid meltdown comments aren't valid either.

Fingers crossed . This could be the super mild varient we can all afford to catch , giving us all some form of natural immunity as well as the vaccines . In the end we are all going to catch it at some point . Past that we ll be in the endemic stage just like every other disease out there .

Theres an interesting video of Dr john campbell on youtube entitled "omicron good news " in which at 13.08 he explains that a couple of experts one being prof Paul hunter are quietly optimistic that this new variant is putting all its spike proteins into one basket so to speak ' it can apparently go one of 3 ways' it can either make itself more transmissible ' make us more poorly or evade the vaccines but is very unlikely to be able to do all 3 ' so they think that it may have put all its efforts into 1 thing ie making itself more transmissible and in doing so weakened itself on the other 2 fronts' so the hope is that it will take over from Delta in being the dominant variant around the world but only give people extremely mild illness whilst also giving them ongoing immunity ' in effect being the architect of its own downfall..lets hope so eh..

You mean our great grandfathers who were conscripted - forced into matters which endangered their health by the state for the greater good, without any personal choice?

I don't agree with forced vaccination, but that's a really daft comparison.

Sorry LTT your argument is just so much smoke. The current covid stats are in the order of 700 hospitalisations a day, 7 to 8k currently hospitalised of which approx 1k are on ventilators. If idiot driving was putting those sorts of numbers into our hospitals the government would have acted against it long ago. Same for unhealthy eating (sugar taxes etc) I don’t think they will necessarily enforce vaccines this winter depending on how things pan out with this new variant, but if the situation is similar next year it will happen. They won’t want go into a third Covid ravaged winter.

Nothing in recent numbers suggest we’ll have a third Covid ravaged Winter. It isn’t ‘just smoke’, it just happens to be a viewpoint you disagree with.

Isn’t obesity heavily linked to a downturn in response to Covid anyway?

sorry 99% of it is covid misinformation pumped out by the cynical to exploit the vulnerable. 99% of the worlds scientific community maybe wrong while Stacey from Facebook might be right. Seems unlikely.

idiots causing scenes in towns don’t clog up ICUs across the country but do impact A&E. if it wasn’t an issue so you think medical staff would be begging people to get vaccinated. .

    Apparently;

At least 1.3 million people were admitted to hospital with a primary or secondary diagnosis linked to alcohol in 2018, according to a report from NHS Digital.

That's 25000 per week. Over 3500 per day.

Plus in 2018 504,200 people were admitted with ailments attributable to smoking.

Nearly 10000 per week. 1400 per day.

Obesity - In 2018 there were 11,117 hospital admissions. Greedy beggars.

So where does that leave the argument that a government would act, if people engaged in voluntary activities causing excessive hospital loading ?

Probably in so much smoke, and ethanol. And Lindts Lindor (can't blame em ).

More hospital visits were smoking related in 2017, 2018 and also 2019 than were covid related in either 2020 or 2021.

How many smokers are turned away from hospitals or vilified by yourself? Frowned upon or tutted at maybe but actively hated i. The way unvaccinated people are? I've never seen it
