Stagecoach have offered a package they say equating to a 9% rise and this has been rejected.

Country recovering economically from Covid epidemic and now we have bus drivers and their union doing this. I certainly don't support them going forward.

They want to have a look at the pay increases around other industries.and people who have lost their jobs.

This is when unions get silly and lose public support. Although I guess many on here can't see past unions doing anything but good.

“They say equating to a 9% rise”. That’s interestingly vague.

Think you ought to aim your disdain at the fat cats.
Typical, be happy with what you get. Plebs.
I point you to 'The ragged trousered philanthropist ' and see where the real issues lay.
And to think some of the working classes vote conservative.
Turkeys voting for xmas spring to mind.
I don't know what standard of living you have.
But £23k on average for stagecoach employees. Is
not exactly a kings ransom. Working unsocial hrs and shifts.
All power to their elbow. And any workforce willing to fight for a decent standard of living.
Some at work, not in the union. Don't realise those in the union fight for better terms and conditions. And they reap the rewards. Parasites the lot on em.
Had one guy who had the audacity to complain he wasn't able to vote in ballots. NOB.

No, glad to answer your question.

6% immediate pay rise followed by 3% in 3 months.. who does the cost get passed to, the customer.

    That was a good offer.

Maybe they see government pushing people to get paid a decent salary like HGV drivers are getting and feel cheated - also what Mp's themselves have been given which is a double figure rise.

Without unions the ruling classes would ride roughshod like you wouldn't believe. Has history not taught you anything.
I referred you to the ragged trousered philanthropist.
As relevant today as the day it was written.
Do yourself a favour go and read it.

So you think 9% is a crap offer.. it is good enough in these times..

Bus driver next to me at the bar in the local.. says happy to strike only got offered 9% and unite are paying them 70 quid a day to stay on strike nice and tax free.

Meanwhile stagecoach up the prices for locals to use public transport.

Last strike I was on the members ( workers) voted to go on strike. Not a trivial decision given it’s the loss of a days pay and a days pension. So maybe the members feel strongly about it?
Had to do an emergency home visit a couple of weeks ago and ended up on the bus from Wombwell to Wath. Previous bus had just had a full setter through the window. Driver told me they are regularly targeted . Could be they deserve a decent wage rise?
