About ten minutes from the end when they open up the gates. You'd get in for nowt. But you might get trampled underfoot by those flooding out.
Oh boll0x!!! Actually I forgot, but he messaged me, the flag is all uncovered ready for this aft. Well done @YTBFC!
I remember way, way back, when you could stand on the Ponty end and the Terrace and I would look over to that gate next to the end of the main stand, wondering what time they would open it. It was usually 10 or 15 minutes from time and besides those leaving early there would be people standing outside, on Grove Street, waiting to get in. I could never see the point of that, standing there with the prospect of only a few minutes of football to watch. It wasn't usually worth the wait, either. I was a regular early leaver in the 60s because I had to get to the paper shop (Jack Harston's, Doncaster Road) to pick up my bag for the evening paper deliveries. As he was a Sheffield Wednesday fan he would never tolerate me being ten minutes late just so I could watch the end of the match.
