She has got life with a minimum term of 29 years to serve before she can apply for parole.

Father, who I’m surprised was not also convicted of murder on a joint enterprise basis, got 21 years of which he will serve 2 thirds before being eligible for parole.

    May they rot in hell.

I just think why? Why did they do it? She had two children already and the father had brought him up until he was two without any problems. What makes someone snap and become pure evil?

Several articles have popped up on this story over the past few days. I started to read one, but I didn't get far. A picture of a 6-year old kid with the caption of him saying "No one loves me", was the breaking point. It brought tears to my eyes. God bless the little fella and I'm sure he's in a better place now, away from those two monsters.

I've just read a book 'The Secret Barrister' it doesn't paint a very good picture of our justice system. Under funded from the start of the CPS, and funds slashed by successive governments.

It beggars belief! I hope both of them get regular good hidings inside! It's just so sickeningly mind numbing that they saw fit to commit such a crime!
No doubt the evil, rotten, ******** will be given protection? I hope not! One can only hope!!

My daughter works in family law and I’d say the system does a variable job at trying to protect children in the face of police incompetence, social workers who pick on easy targets and neglect cases deemed “problematic” - especially racially and culturally sensitive ones and mothers who seem hell bent on hooking up with convicted child molesters and violent men. I think if people knew the full extent of child abuse which goes on and the numbers being taken into care even despite the system they’d be truly shocked.

Another failure by individuals and statutory services to protect a child. There will be a case review and inquiry, recommendations made, artificial apologies and a promise not to let it happen again.
For nearly 40years I have worked in child protection and I'm still involved in Safeguarding, as part of my work.
I care nothing for their phoney apologies and concern, professionals failed this child and others are being failed as you read this. Nothing ever changes, there will be another case reported soon.
The reason is no one is willing to make a decision, Safeguarding has made it worse, lots of self important talk and no action.

Hate to agree with the anti lockdown brigade but this is one instance by the sound of things where if he was at school things would have been picked up. Lockdown allowed this to happen because he wasn't deemed a vulnerable child, as I understand it the grandparent only reported concerns once and these were looked into and not deemed worthy of follow up. If he was deemed vulnerable he'd either have been in school or regularly checked on.
    RIP little man.

I woke up during the night and never got back to sleep, the poor kids voice going through my head. Unbelievable how truly evil some "humans" can be. Horrific, God bless him.

It's does happen quite frequently to be honest . Without going through the works of Freud I think it's something to do with projection . They see something of themselves they dislike in the child which angers them even though they probably did it themselves. They then project all that anger and hate they felt about themselves over a said particular behaviour and effectively make the child pay for their own failings . Very tragic but an all too common occurrence .

Just heard Johnson saying no stone will be left unturned to learn the lessons of this case. Here’s one you don’t have to turn stones for… STOP CUTTING SOCIAL SERVICES FUNDING
    You’re welcome! .

No other word to describe this other than heartbreaking . I don’t even want to comment on the so called parents they don’t deserve even mentioning . I just feel for the little boy . What a horrible world we live in. Hope all football clubs join in the minutes applause on the 6 minute at this weekends games

Didn't social services, relatives or friends realise what was going on? I honestly can't read it at the moment, I see headlines, pictures and the first couple of lines and stop.

His grandma reported her concerns but it seems as though the parents talked their way out of it. As it was lockdown, no one would have picked up on him looking thin. Getting changed for PE would have shown the bruises too.
