He got a very good grilling. He watches a different sport to me if he thinks shots on target don't matter that much. He even had the chance to repeat himself maybe they thought it could have been lost in translation but he stuck up again for lack of shots on target. https://www.bbc.co.uk/sounds/play/p0b855j0
Heard the interview he talks well much better than schopp did, but the shots on target was disappointing we over played it around their final 3rd for me and abit slow in that area. Work needed in that department.
Think he speaks well and he's right that shots on target is not always the best indicator of chances created. He accepts we need to improve but I think defending the team in the way he did is probably a good tactic, considering how much confidence we seem to be lacking at the moment.
If he meant purely stats of shots on target he could be right, a shot that fizzes just wide of the post is really no different to a soft shot that is technically on target but a granny of ninety could have saved.
All I heard is the word “developing” which is clearly his main goal. Probably couldn’t give a toss if we go down as long as the players are “developing” in the right way for more ££££
Not heard this interview, but recent Radio Sheff interviews (have they been from Staton?) have seemed more like baiting for a headline rather than trying to get information. The rant about Oulare, trying to get Poya to make demands of the board and then the Woodrow interview yesterday. Reeks of **** stirring rather than interviewing
I think Poya's right. There are shots that have you out of your seat narrowly missing the target (not on target) and there are shots that trickle and easily picked up by the keeper (on target). I know which I prefer to see. It's the quality of the shot that is important.
I don't know if it's baiting for a headline but I have noticed that Rob Station is MUCH harder on Poya than he is on other local managers. He grills him like Andrew Neil in the run up to an election
Not only me then! The way he asked the questions, I thought you b*st*rd. Does he think he is Andrew Neil.
Main aim stop up, secondary aim develop. Obviously if we don't develop at all we'll not be stopping up
Still, nice of him to take Darren Moore’s penis out of his mouth for a couple of hours to take in a Barnsley game.
I've never heard him question a Sheffield United or Wednesday manager the way he's questioned poya the past couple of weeks and they've certainly been in the relegation places.
agree and it’s been great to see / hear. The press conferences are so so bland. Great to hear them stirring the pot and asking some tough questions. Hope they keep it up. They are not there to be friends with the club
This^^. I don’t care how far up the dee dah teams bottoms he is, as long as the questions for Barnsley coach are tough and relevant.
He answers questions like a politician. Maybe hes a coach that can never admit they are wrong and talk their way out of anything and everything…? It was a lot better yestersday and we could have won. But easily could have lost too. He cannot stand there and deny we were shot shy. I lost count of the number of times we had a shot on goal and we opted to pass it - often that resulted in nothing or the ball going all the way back to collins. Woodrow took a shot and i bet hed forgotton what that felt like. We need to have more pops at goal when we get the chance. Even if it does t go in there may be rebounds to go for. If we dont even try we’ll never score.
