His response was a bit weak. He should be inviting him to resign. I can only assume his preference is to go up against Johnson in the election rather than some other charlatan
The problem with calling for a more severe sanction is that Starmer will look even weaker when Boris sticks up two fingers and wins the next by-election.
What ‘we’ have to remember here is that a fairly large proportion of the population ignored the government advice at the time. Do you think those people care in the slightest? Add in the ‘rather have a crap Tory than any Labour’ and the ‘got Brexit done’ bunch, and you have almost the entire voter profile of who elected them. We have to be honest with ourselves here; those of us who are disgusted by this don’t matter to ‘them’ at all. We’re literally insignificant. We’re not Tories, and we’re not super rich, we were never gonna vote for em, why would they care how we feel.
And yet folk still cheered on their policies. Backed up their restrictions and their lockdowns, did their dirty work for them making sure ordinary people were miserable, and good people didn’t see their dying families because people they trusted told them that was the right thing to do. And all the time they were laughing at you, and doing what the **** they wanted because they knew the whole set of ludicrous measures were utterly moronic. Is it any wonder we’ve been ******* furious with this whole ******** charade for the last nearly two years. Does it make you angry? It should.
I’m really not doing this any more. But the Tories aren’t responsible for a worldwide pandemic. They’re responsible for messing up the response, but you and almost every expert in the world disagree on what the right response should have been.
I dont believe that's correct. I think last year the overwhelming majority of people stuck to the rule about Christmas. The people who ignored what the government said would have ignored what anyone said, so I don't think it's largely because they voted for Boris. My old man (82) voted Boris, long time Conservative voter, thinks he's a bloody idiot but still shielded with my Mum last year. He will flip his lid about this. My Mum the same. Starmer? Who he?
Ayone with a good internal compass doesn't need a government to tell them right from wrong. The restrictions largely made sense some will disagree, but they live in a world of "If only.. " where an untested alternative would have been a garden of roses, avoiding all the terrible side effects of mitigating a virus whilst stopping the NHS collapsing around our ears.
You’ve just described one of my criteria, he might be upset, I bet he’ll still vote Tory next time but believe me the others exist too. I was at a funeral recently; got talking to a family from the NE; basically described last year as constant family parties as ‘they didn’t know anyone who’d caught it, and having people furloughed or WFH was just a boon to their social lives. And I’m sure we all know the ‘got Brexit done’ brigade from across the political spectrum.
Oh they should be out, make no mistake. People sacrificed a lot to get through pendemic and get jabbed so covid was less of a risk, myself and my parents included. We did so because we thought it was the right thing to do, not because Boris said so. Any government regardless of what anyone does, should set an example. Unsurprisingly it hasn't and has failed, again.
What do you want him to do then, take round the back of the commons and shoot him?????? It’s idiots like you that don’t understand politics that probably voted this corrupt pollock and his bent mates in in the first place. you were asked what YOU expect Starmer to do, so put forward a plausible way forward or stop making stupid comments…
I'm sure they exist, I just believe that the vast majority of people who voted Tory also complied with the regulations and will be pretty pissed at this.
Idiots like me?!! **** off you absolute plank. Who the **** do you think you are? I've never voted tory and never will. However, I expect more from the main opposition leader.
Well I have spoke out agaisng Lockdowns consistently and I'm disgusted by it. The only thing that has tempered my disgust is the total lack of suprise at anything this horrific government does. I'm reminded of a comment my Grandad always used to make "doesn't matter who you vote for, the Government always get in" While many people were working from home or furloughed, as a key worker I have worked continuously throughout the whole thing. Continued to mix with a couple of hundred people everyday. Meanwhile my wife who has 2 collapses of mental health in that time has been cut off from practically all support on numerous occasions. So we as a family got to the stage where we completely ignored government advice and will continue to do so. I hate the tories and the last 2 years has only served to strengthen than viewpoint.
Sorry to hear that mate, sounds like you've had a really tough time. I hope things get better for you.
