We have a manager with relatively little club management experience and zero English/ Championship experience. He me might not like it but we could get a director of football ( survival ) in until the end of the year to help him out. In other words give Colin a call ASAP !
A better option would’ve been to not hire Asbaghi in the first place. Terrible appointment. We were crying out this time for a British based coach who knows the EFL. Never going to happen under these jokers.
We were crying out for someone with championship managerial experience to guide this young team.... we appoint a 36 year old whos never coached in england before couldnt make it up.
I honestly don't think that the EFL is as much as a mystery as some people make out. We had 3 consecutive coaches who had no EFL managerial experience between them who had a degree of success. One of them got us out of a situation very similar to the one we're in now.
I agree though. There were managers out there who got championship sides out of trouble as second nature. Colin till.summer would have done the business, we'd have had plenty of time to source our young up and coming continental coach for next season.
I don't disagree that there was, but I don't think it's necessarily the only answer either. As I've eluded to above, Struber got us out of a similar situation a couple of years ago. Warnock until the summer would have been an expensive appointment, and wouldn't necessarily have worked. It might have even affected our budget for next season and getting us back into this league.
We were struggling before lockdown. Should have gone for the jugular against the Wendies and that Cardiff match was atrocious. I don't think we'd have stayed up but for Covid, I really dont. Wigan going into admin when they did saved us, without Covid wouldn't they have waited until a new season? That's not saying Struber was terrible, he wasn't .
I don't think we're getting back into this league for a long time anyway. I started watching in 1960 and it was 1981 before I saw second tier football, and at my present age I fear I might not see it again after this season.
Never gonna happen because clearly these owners would rather us go down. It makes financial sense to them. Therefore it makes financial sense for me to not renew until they pi$$ right off!
I think the CEO acts as the director of football at Bfc. Bobby Hassell was given that role but has been usurped by the new owners. The CEO and the board seem to dictate to the recruitment team what they can get, within a budget set by the Financial director. G Struber did tweak it a bit and so did Dane with Dike. The coach has to work with the rubbish that is brought in for him.
Conway probably gives every new coach General Melchett’s words from Black Adder. “If nothing else works a total pig-headed unwillingness to face facts will see us through."
This manager is nowhere near Champ level I think he’d be ok in League 1 with us but what an awful appointment. Was gonna say worse appointment for a while but Morais was a shocker as well.
Many examples where a ‘British based person with experience’ has failed too. In fact I would hazard a guess that if someone did a study it would turn out more are unsuccessful than successful. I do agree though that I think Colin would keep us up.
In your opinion. The tons of overseas managers who have had success in the Championship without any prior experience, beg to differ.
There are obviously no guarantees but would you agree that appointing a manager with previous experience of avoiding relegation was a less risky option though Archey? Assuming of course avoiding relegation is the priority?
I just don't subscribe to the whole 'we need a manager with experience in the EFL' thing. Experience obviously is an advantage in a relegation fight, but I don't think it necessarily needs to be experience of the English game, especially in this day and age. If it did, we wouldn't have as many overseas managers come over.
