The lapped Cars between Hamilton and Verstappen were allowed to unlap but ones further back were not.

Thanks for that Redstone. Well explained. I can't see this being overturned though? I suspect that the outcome will be that the stewards' decision will stand - even though there seems a fair chance it was wrong.

It will stand because whilst the wrong decision was made there is no ruling that can be applied that allows the result to change. The competitors didn't break the rules, the race director did.

Not only that, you had Ricciardo and Vettel (lapped) in between Verstappen (2nd) and Sainz (3rd). How can that be right? Not saying he would have won, but Carlos was basically robbed of getting involved in that last lap race for the chequered flag.

I'm astounded about today's events the more I think about it. I genuinely can't think of a more blatantly manipulated event in sport.

Bit like England in the 2019 ODI Final, really.

The stewards didn’t make the initial decision. The race director did. He has quite clearly made an incorrect decision severely impacting the result. The stewards have basically closed ranks and said nothing to see here… it’s a shambles. There’s literally no point in having rules if they aren’t followed

‘Here we go again’. Really? You think it’s childish. I just think it’s supporting the integrity of a sport I’ve been watching for decades.

You suggested I was saying Max was a fraud. You might not have meant to imply that, but it’s how it came across. I’ve not said that once so felt like you were moving my replies on a level. Not sure it needed the dramatic reply.

Search them yourself rather than demanding info like you think you’re going to trip us all up. They’re visible on most articles covering the story.

I haven’t gone through the constructors Championship table but surely if all cars are unlapped, as should have happened, then that last lap gives lots of potential points and position changes right?

Its such a monumental mistake and error it’s hard to shake it off. Unprecedented and so, so wrong. Horner radios in. Decision changes at short notice. Max handed the title.

The stewards had literally no power to change anything

Far from a Hamilton fan. But he was well and truly shafted today

Plus Sainz who was in 3rd might have put pressure on Verstappen for 2nd, but couldn`t as the car in between him and Verstappen wasn`t allowed to unlap himself

I’m stunned by the outcome of this race.

I can’t recall such a blatant cheat by authorities to change a winner of a contest.

A complete circus. For whatever reason, they chose that Verstappen had to win and amended the rules on the fly to make it happen.

Feel gutted for Hamilton, but equally for the sport that was formula one.

Races that ended behind a safety car.

In Brazil 2012, it was a title decider too. Vettel finished 6th, enough to win the title ahead of Alonso, who finished 2nd.
