Amazing just 11 days ago Omicron was nothing to worry about, and Christmas was going to be great. Now a tsunami is coming, and lardarse wants to play Churchill again on a Sunday evening.

Aren’t hospitalisations down by 55% vs. this time last year?

The seven day Covid death average in SA is flat and at it’s lowest peak.

Don’t we have 42 patients in hospital at the moment with the new variant, but 37 of them didn’t visit hospital because of Covid?

That’s a dashboard I’d like an unbiased media to blend with the other ones they use so often.

I agree folk should get jabbed, but for so many they just won't.
The man's been lying all week, so he wants undecided people to trust him?
Why not roll out Ant and Dec to do it along side Jonathan Van Tam? More chance of selling the benefits than a lying opportunist who just wants to stay in power.

Embarrassing, and I don't mean working for Aldi. How are we going to attract staff like that?

well that’s the problem. People are leaving in droves and not being replaced putting more strain on staff making them more likely to leave making it a vicious circle. 4 people left the missis ward last week leaving her the only FT Qualified member of staff. So they spend a fortune on bank staff rather than paying them properly in the first place.

genuinely cba arguing the toss with you mate. make your own choice. I'm personally not looking at any dashboards. I'm assuming there isn't any credible data that says getting a booster will do more harm than good, and that's enough for me. I'm just gonna get it and be on the safe side.

Agreed, but let's not pretend that this latest panic is anything more than the Government posturing that they are doing something.
I'll get my booster after Christmas on the assumption that having had Covid gave me some immunity. Decision based on as much science as Boris has provided.

The NHS will not be delivering the booster programme but rather some private health companies, with blue NHS badges. GPs and Hospitals will continue to work as normally as possible. January is the time when hospitals fill up with Old people. Hospitals have had a intake of admissions over the past few months of people who are not vaccinated.

Its not about making a choice. I never said anything about that? It’s about holding this government and the media to account in their project fear propaganda that such a high percentage of people feel fine with, without wanting to discuss all the other lives these decisions are effecting.

just for the record, I don't give a fk what Boris has to say. I'm not getting a booster cos Boris says so. I despise him with every fibre of my being, and I have no doubt this is the usual tory playbook of deflecting $hit they should currently be getting pinned for. if anyone thinks I'm suggesting any kind of tory support, hopefully that clarifies.

I'm getting it because the omicron variant exists, and unless the scientific community says a booster will do more harm than good, I see no point refusing or even delaying it.

I'm not the brightest but there are more restrictions now due to the spreadability (I'm using that word ok) of Omicron. Vaccine passports are coming in because of it. Yet the BBC news site says that close contacts will no longer have to isolate. What? How does that make sense?

I'm getting a booster when I see some evidence that Omicrom is worse than a cold. Not that I have taken any of this pandemic lightly - I have followed the guidance. But, there has been nothing from South Africa that actually says that this is worse than something seasonal. Just can't do this for every version of a virus for the rest of our lives. The hospitals were rammed every year of my life in the winter. It's nothing new. Was happy to conform, and will do if it looks like I should, but at the moment, it looks like we are being manipulated.

Think the beeb have that wrong. Anyone who comes into contact with anyone with Omicron has to self isolate for 10 days. Think the guidance remains not for delta though as most labs can’t differentiate between the two not sure how you would know.

Meanwhile I'm seeing reports that Labour are as expected going to back Vaccine Passports on Tuesday. I really have had enough, what a horrific decision.

That would make more sense because otherwise it seems completely contradictory

I will not because of anything that clown car **** says but to dismiss any unknown virus as a cold when health care professionals are advising you to take a booster to stop you getting it seems not the right thing.

The number of hospitals in black alert is pretty unprecedented. So anything we can do to stop that getting worse I hope we will

    ‘A Tsunami of Omicron’.

How are people not outraged at the chosen wording used here? It was an announcement full of fearful projections.

So Omicron is (allegedly) more transmittable than the last variant however its not as deadly.

    Is that correct?
