If I win euromillions. I will buy out the 80% mob and put significant funds into the club to modernise the stadium and strengthen the squad. There will be a cheap season ticket scheme for the first year and kids under 12 will be offered a free one to get them hooked. I think I can achieve this with C. 20-25 million. We will not groundshare with Rotherham under my watch, we will have supporters on the board and the programme will be renamed 'Kamikaze News' Apart from the last bit I'm serious. Problem is winning the jackpot.
Aye its a problem. As an aside I would add that card carrying members of the Tory Party would be banned from the stadium under strict 'no nasty people allowed' rules.
I'm sure many of us have had that dream over the years. Back in 1966 a modest investment of £10,000 got Geoff Buckle and Ernest Dennis onto the board. How much is that in today's money? It was enough to buy two forwards who knew where the net was - Barrie Thomas and Johnny Evans. That started the good times off although we slipped back again in the 70s until Jim-Iley-Out steadied the ship and got the club in a position where they could recruit an ex-England international as player manager. Exciting times!
The free season tickets for under 12"s has been in recently, I started bringing my youngest grandson when he was 6 on the free ticket & it worked , he had one until he was 12 & has bought a season ticket ever since , the rest of your suggestions look good to me, hope you get the winning ticket !
No, only downside though is you wouldn’t get much of a player for that sort of money compared to then.
True enough but Thomas and Evans were bought to get us away from the bottom of the Fourth Division and they did a great job. Jimmy Robson arrived the next season, again for a very modest fee, and he helped us to promotion. It was a real privilege at that time to see ex-First Division players like this in a red shirt.
I'd have to win one of the big American lottos with hundreds of millions to even consider it, or by chance happen to receive the 1 billion I was promised from a Nigerian chap by email but I'm still waiting for the bank transfer. You'd certainly need more than the 20-25 Million. That would merely skim the surface. One reason we should be concerned about when folk are wanting to force the current owners out. It would be different if there was a large queue of people who wanted the take over and do things differently whilst also having the cash to do that. In reality there isn't anyone in the queue. Probably why we would never have a sustainable fans owned championship club, reckon we would be looking at season after season of trying to survive in league 2 if that became a reality.
I think the club needs these owners to have friends in high places and sell to billionaires that dream of the Premier League. It's the only way out of this mess. There'll no doubt be another relegation to League 1 and master rest first.
dunt worry as I too will be buying the club if I win the jackpot...... there the odds are falling by the second
What do you mean by merely skim the surface? Do you think the owners would demand hundreds of millions for the club?
