Who signed this guy when he was known to have a dodgy, injury hit career. Mid December and still to make a full start! Will he ever be fit enough to play 90 mins... Methinks not. What a waste of money he has been.
Be careful, you will be accused of bullying and abusing the poor fellow. Obviously not his fault he was signed, probably couldn't believe anyone would be stupid enough to do it!
you're never guaranteed success when you sign a player, but on the surface of things this feels like one of our weirdest signings for some time
I understand if it is injuries and genuinely isn't his fault. But it'd be nice for him to come out and say something, support the lads, maybe even just turn up to watch the match etc... Show us his heart is in it.
He saw us coming alright' 3 year deal and i would imagine one of the higher " earners"' i've said it before i would be willing to wager that he never scores a goal for Barnsley football club...
Don’t think you give pay as you play deals out for 3 years. Well and truly got done up on this deal and someone should take some accountability for it cos even me an actual idiot could see it was a move destined for failure.
Yep. A three year deal that will likely cost us in excess of £1m with no chance of any return back. And to think we can’t sign any experience that we need in the squad because there’s no potential monetary return for the club. The irony……
Signing an injury hit player who didn’t really want to sign for us was a weird choice. Harsh to write someone off but seems very doubtful that this punt will come off.
There is plenty of time left he has only been here half a season, sometimes it just takes time look at DeBruyne and Salah at Chelsea, bit of patience and he might be a big hit next year in league 1 for us.
I’d have thought you could offer a very minimal weekly wage, with larger incentives on playing/scoring surely?
You can - appearance fees, bonus for scoring, assisting, etc etc. The bigger clubs pay for players cars, houses, etc to get out of FFP
The deal with Standard Liege was that we got him for zero transfer fee in return for taking on his wages, c. £7k a week basic, I believe and 50% of any future transfer profit (no idea if that is before or after any wages we've paid are taken into account). Reckon that means he's cost us the best part of £5k per minute on the field at the moment
