The Football League is responsible for setting the standards, values and expectations of all Clubs in relation to equality, inclusion and diversity. Football is for everyone; it belongs to and should be enjoyed by anyone who wants to participate in it, whether as a player, official, staff member or spectator.

The aim of Barnsley Football Club Equality Policy is to promote our own equality objectives and in doing so, help to ensure that everyone is treated fairly and with respect.

All Barnsley Football Club representatives should abide and adhere to this Policy and to the requirements of the Equality Act 2010. In doing so, we are working towards being legally compliant in relation to equality legislation. Barnsley Football Club commitment is to promote inclusion and to confront and eliminate discrimination whether by reason of age, gender, gender reassignment, sexual orientation, marital status or civil partnership race, nationality, ethnicity (race), religion or belief, ability or disability, pregnancy and maternity and to encourage equal opportunities. These are known as ‘protected characteristics’ under the Equality Act 2010.

Policy has expired and not been renewed - are we ripping this up?

Access passes based on your medical history is discrimination and goes completely against this right?

Whether they are sensible or effective is a whole other argument.

Being vaccinated or otherwise isn't a protected characteristic.

See listed in the OP the ones which are.

We have many sticks to bash the club with at the moment.

But this one is entirely government led. Not the club

So it doesn't say it's expired then. It says review.

But considering it 9 month overdue for review and signed by a ceo thats no longer here probably best to get it reviewed especially given the current situation.

You created a thread saying it has expired. It hasn't expired. But you're right that on the website, it hasn't been updated to reflect a due review date. Thank you for giving us the heads up.

As I said last time. Statistically women are served quicker than men. Anecdotal evidence may tell you that in your case that's not correct but statistically it is.

I'm not sure what the OP is saying really. The Equality and Diversity Act 2010,is applicable everywhere to everyone at all times. The club or any other do not have to review their policies and protocols, as they have to abide by the law,as we all do. Could be criticising the club but in this case I can't see what they are doing wrong?

It's good practice for a business to review policy every so often. Hence putting a review date.

It doesn't mean it's expired and no longer applicable, just that a review is over due which may or may not slightly alter the existing policy when it is done. And go beyond the law for things that may appeal to certain customers.

But your right, no company's policy overrides the law. And it's this last point I find aggravating, because some companies treat their policies as though they do. But not in BFCs case as far as I can see anyway

I bet you don’t get hassled at the bar though. Sometimes we just want a drink and not having to have a fake jolly conversation with a weirdo, which is what tends to happen it you’re a woman stood at the bar alone (I’m not saying men shouldn’t chat women up at the bar, just that it can get annoying/boring quickly and it can be better for everyone if the situation is avoided). You’re also less likely to have your drinks spiked. Basically, it’s just easier if the person who can go up, order and return with the drink with no bother does it.

My money. Their money. In a marriage. Or solid partnership.
