Is that the same Jesse Pennington who played fullback for WBA in the1912 FA Cup against Barnsley ?

That’s right apparently he could have brought down Harry Tufnell with a professional foul and prevented him scoring but was a “gentleman” according to my grandad who was at the match.

My Dad went to school (Agnes Road Infants) with Harry Tufnell’s son.

My only tedious link to the Boys of 1912 is that I am most definitely not hung like Amos The Donkey mascot.
Genuinely brilliant, though, that we do have two posters who have links, however tedious, to our greatest glory.

I do, however, have the brains of Amos The Donkey mascot…just not the tallywhacker.

Definitely better the other way round I can assure you.

I do wish we had a decent team…

I know this doesn`t really count but apparently my grandad`s dad was at the Bramall Lane replay.

For sure it counts! I guess you were much too young to know him

I love it when they threw their hats in the air when someone scored

My grandad used to regale me with lots of stories regarding The Reds from the 1900`s onwards when he started going to Oakwell - cycling from Bolton on Dearne .But he would have been 14 in 1912 and I`m not sure whether the replay was on a school day so he only got a secondhand report on the match from his Dad.
Incidentally He was always one to carry a grudge and hated Arsenal all his life for them "pinching" our place in League One after WW1.
