Poundland Red Bull he means, where's the 750K? Prove how wealthy they really are, and can you explain exactly where the money is held? Can they confirm the business premises they trade from aren't just pop up / rent an offices or PO Boxes? The ones in Florida and Hong Kong.
Don't think it was either... Pretty sure the training ground was finished after they took over, but they didn't start it. I may well be wrong though...
The replies to the tweet are very telling. Mine was one of the first, and easily spotted, but there's a theme developing as the list grows.
No, you're right, that's absolutely what happened. They benefitted from the new stadium and investment before their time. I seem to recall they got in the ECL off the back of players inherited and then started to slump as they sold them off.
"In their first 12 months the owners had a state of the art Academy and training centre built for future player development. They appointed Lucien Favre as coach and within 12 months the club had qualified for the Champions League for the first time in their history. They also signed Mario Balotelli from Liverpool." I'm not having an ownership love in just stating facts that are out there.
They also bought Nice for 20 million and sold it for 100 million. That would suggest to me they increased the value of there investment, unless the new owner is some kind of crank.
I suggest you look into what actually happened. The ground is owned by the local authority. The training ground was devised by the previous ownership group. Planning permissions sought and gained and funding acquired. The fundamental issue was that a loan was taken out by ConLee with a somewhat unorthodox lender. The APR was circa 8-9% if I recall correctly. But there was a caveat that the whole amount needed to be repaid if they fell below a certain league position. Given that the club was struggling and league performance getting perilously close to the position that would trigger pay back, fans revolted. The former owners and previous CEO who resigned looked for someone to buy them out. They managed to get a consortium with the Ineos owner who had numerous bids turned down. Chien Lee was in the media just days before saying they were long term investors and they didn't want to sell. Ratcliffe increased his bid to circa 100m euros and they accepted. The "profit" they bagged themselves or whoever funds them was not through some incredible series of developments that enhanced the value of the club, but instead reckless personal ends that facilitated desperation on fans and part ownership group to save the club and pay well over the odds. Of course, you won't hear ConLee admit that. Some people will swallow whatever people in authority say irrespective of what actually happened.
That's us f cuked then because who in their right mind would buy us? The club is separate from the ground and land. It isn't attractive at all. Cryne f cuked us over big time there. Safeguarding the ground might have lost us a football club in the long term. As long as the West Stand is allowed to carry on rotting though. I know these owners are chancers but the lot before them weren't the best.
I'm talking more in terms in what happens to our club in the future being greatly hindered by not being one package. I want these owners out but can't see who'll want us. That isn't down to them or what happened at Nice it's down to the decision to separate the club into two entities.
No disrespect, but how would you know that people are interested in acquiring us? I mentioned the other day that there was a group looking to acquire a club in the mid 90's and we were on that pretty short list. But it wasn't in the public domain. None of us are party to what is going on behind the scenes. I do think ConLee want to offload the club, but only at a decent profit, and it wouldn't surprise me that when we run out of funds, that they turn to a similar form of lending to ramp up pressure on the 20% ownership group. I certainly don't see that our situation is any more perilous with or without the ground attached to the ownership.
