Apparently this is so they don't have to touch things then touch the mask again. I suppose if you are that worried then it does have a logical process behind it.
Personally it tells me how often I touch my face and a mask to the point of it being a waste of time.
It could be why we see no real world data showing masks making a widespread difference.
The majority of us take them off and put them back on repeatedly. Shoving them into pockets, bags ect.
The majority of us mess with them all the time, have to adjust them ect.
The majority of people only wear them to avoid the stigma of not doing so, to avoid any potential confrontation.
After many years of food hygiene courses what I would like to see stick is the continued use of hand sanitizer before they go into shops.
I'm sure the many men on here can testify as to how many use toilets and don't wash their hands at all.

It's a strange phenomenon, the same with masked-up joggers!

I'm more hygienic than the rest of you. To avoid having to touch IT at all I just piss my pants.

Mods, I think this should be in the "old words (or phrases) no longer in use" thread.

Thanks I've read many of the same sort of articles before and I don't deny masks working scientifically.
Just all around the world we have seen mask mandates brought in and little change in waves of infection. I was suggesting this is largely down to people not wearing/using them correctly on a wide scale.
We also have the people who think a mask makes them invulnerable so they can go near anyone.
Put simply I'm not saying masks don't work I'm saying that often people don't, that's why the mixed outcomes have occurred

It's a ludicrous concept and defies rational thought.

It amazes me that in the entirety of this pandemic, I've not once seen any NHS or government guidance on how to wear a mask safely and correctly. We had guidance on how to wash hands more effectively, so why not mask wearing?

I had to get on the train yesterday to get my booster (rescheduled after my GP refused me several weeks earlier despite me being eligible) at one of the central hospitals. But given DePfeffel can't get his mob to agree wholly on them being worn, its little surprise.

I'm completely unashamed that in the handful of times I go outside, I now double mask and wear it from the moment I go out to the moment I'm back in doors (even for fox feeding!). Sadly there were still plenty of examples yesterday of people not wearing them at all or people wearing them in a way they clearly shouldn't, or constantly touching them.

Not good here at the minute. My missus had a major wobble the other day at the thought she might not get to see her mum and dad again this Christmas, combined with the worry of how much she'll have to battle to get her booster (4th) jab after the ridiculous lengths she had to go to for her 3rd.

I wear masks at work everyday.

But I don’t wear them out of work, but simply because I don’t own any. Nobody’s said anything to me, I just go about my business. I’m also triple jabbed. And to be quite honest, I don’t tend to frequent busy places anyway. Although I will be wearing a mask tonight (nicked from work) in the concourse. Off when I take my seat. In the bin afterwards.

I've made it very clear my thoughts on restrictions. However I have also said I have always tried to be respectful of others. That means whenever I have been asked to I have worn a mask. I'm with you it's shocking how many people can't do it. I find it more frustrating seeing someone with a mask around their chin than someone not wearing one at all. It's mind boggling.
The mental toll is difficult for so many and with her health issues ontop it must be very difficult for your other half.
Again as I documented some of my wifes difficulties, one thing I've been trying to do is have as many conversations as possible about other things with her, rather than obsessing on that which we can't control. It certainly seems to have helped both of us.

She tends not to say a great deal about it and tends to switch over the news if anything pandemic related is on, but obviously it’s impossible to totally escape.

She’s been fine for long periods (notably when we’ve been able to get out while rates were very low) but the current huge spike is clearly worrying her, particularly as London is seemingly the epicentre.

But it is what it is and there are people in much much worse circumstances.

What’s the 4th? Thought 3rd was the booster?
