Not much competition but best I have seen us play all season. WBA were there for the taking but again we didn't create enough and had to rely on a decent save in both halves to keep us in the game. We can stay up and tonight was pretty enjoyable. We didn't look out of place and we held our own. Looking forward to Stoke now more than I have looked forward to the next home game for a while.
No tin hat required for me I agree with you.Baby steps if you like but we are far more organized than we've been all season. We now need to push on and raise our level going forward. If he can sort out our defence like he has in such a short time I'm sure he can sort the attacking threat out moving on.
At least there was a game plan and heart and desire from the majority of the players. We didn't make it easy for WBA, we didn't roll over but the key is to build upon tonight and beat Stoke
Best performance since the QPR 45 for me. Disciplined hard earned point. There are some games you can't be expansive. It's a shame the draws v Huddersfield, Peterborough and tonight couldn't have been later fixtures or in the case of West Brom and Huddersfield away ones. I get met with contrition but Swansea looking back was always how we needed to go. An aside if Mick McCarthy can see what Poya I'd doing that's good enough for me. It was a nice touch in his post match interview that Asbaghi knew who big Mick was too.
At least defensively we now vaguely resemble a professional team. Just midfield and forward play to work on now. Awful game to watch though 2/10
Unless Poya is allowed to bring in around three attack minded players with pace and the ability to create then i honestly can’t see anything changing.
That's an interesting use if the word "enjoyed". But I agree there were signs of progress, albeit it only defensively.
Not sure tbh I think some of the resolution was due to not looking rubbish on tv or in front of big Val. Also we showed that resolution and won against Derby and Coventry. I'm honestly am not getting it with Poya, but then I like attacking football. I know it's all ifs and buts but those going on about baby steps, would you feel the same if WBA got a goal from one of their many chances?
Defensivly decent 3 cleared off the line and a few collins stops saved us but i would like to see us try and win a football match.
I enjoyed watching us defend our conkers off and throw everything in front of the ball. We were obviously not potent enough but that may be down to morris getting kicked out of the game and iseka not understanding how to play in a game like that
A better result that I predicted by three or four goals. I enjoyed the amount of battle from the back 5. We’re desperate for some physical presence in midfield though. We’ll always struggle to score until the midfielders can stop being outmuscled off the ball and needing Morris to drop deep or out wide.
It was me who mentioned baby steps. All I can say when a team as been as bad as us you can't over night throw caution to the wind because we we would have been slaughtered and that does no good to a team suffering from a lack of confidence. We are running out of time but he's got to build the confidence in the team first and then hopefully go for the jugular.
