According to the tweet from Laura Kuenssberg , the guy - Simon Case leading the enquiry into the Cabinet office party was present but not taking part in the quiz the day before I quote

"15 people were invited to what was, it's said, a virtual quiz with people having drinks at their desks with some taking part from home - Case walked thro as it was happening in room outside his office - seems untenable that he won't remove himself from investigation now" and

"It also seems, erm, unusual, that knowing that there was a 'Christmas Party' invite during lockdown the night before 18th Dec, for his team, it seemed right thing for him to do the inquiry in the first place"

Crikey, the gloves are certainly off if Laura K is allowed to have a go.

Only sad thing about this is that the precedent has now been set following basically interference in policing from the non governing parties.

If the the police investigate this party, they now are surely obliged to go back and investigate all the public ones they also turned a blind eye to.

So where does this leave the police, if a political party dictates to them what to start looking into.

If it had been the Tories or Lib Dems complaining about a Labour knees up, my guess is it would have simply been laughed off.

It's genuinely not a dig at Labour or even the Fib Dems, they have seen a political point to score and jumped on it. It's more consistency in policing and who calls the shots. Once the police become politicised we are proper done for. This is one step in that direction where the police have only acted because of political pressures, yet ignore thousands of public complaints about the same issue.

Am I actually reading about a right winger here complaining about the police. Alanis will be along for a sing song soon.

the police police. Unless they decide not to investigate crimes they happened in the past. Now don’t get me wrong they are pretty ******* clever if they think they are paid into investigate crimes they happen in the future.

Who told the dozens of police stationed in and around Downing Street to look the other way during these parties is that not political interference of an even worse kind the governing party telling the police to ignore their lawbreaking while jumping on everybody else.

What are you even talking about..

Whole point is that if you set a precedent then you have to live up to that and investigate all the public offences that were dismissed prior.

Not sure where you get right wing either if anything its bang in the centre on most issues.

Would someone right wing want us to remain members of the single market and keep FOM etc? You are way off the mark flower.

    Would it change owt though?

Probably would just extend the tenure of the Tories without big changes to our voting system.

They HAVE investigated other gatherings and parties. Other people have been fined for it. The precedent already exists, it's just the Tory elite that they turn a blind eye to

Crime is crime, doesn't matter who's committed it and when.
Your loyalty to the Tories and Boris is quite remarkable.
This lot are a crime syndicate pure and simple, who believe the rules don't apply to them.
What's your take on the MP who's willing to sell his soul to Saudi's again to fund his kids private tuition fees? Do you sympathise with his financial predicament?

Yep most are diligent hard working low paid civil servants. The ones being mentioned in reports are basically politically appointed sycophantic idiots with no idea. They fit in nicely with this government. The Cabinet Office is recent years has become a vile place, which unfortunately dumbed down to meet the needs of the government.
They've lost loads of public funds trying to avoid scrutiny. It's been bad for a while, but when Gove ran it, it became the Ministry for cover ups and propaganda.
