I noticed that on Zoe app too, Wakefield also was going down last week. It always seems to me that when they decide to introduce local lockdowns the rates in places like Wakefield are really high compared to London, then when the rates are really high in London compared to Wakefield it’s a national emergency. Another example of the North being run badly by public school w@kers in Westminster.
I found it funny the other day when I read that you had to be fully vaxxed before they would euthanize you. You can't be too careful. Almost as crazy as the ferry I got on Saturday from Alameda to San Francisco. No restrictions on who can board, but you must prove you're fully vaxxed to buy a coffee from the concession stand.
Trolley problem. A runaway train is heading towards 5 people who have no way of moving. On the next track along is 1 person. You have access to the lever and can divert the train from those 5 to that 1. Do you do it? In my mind Boris is that one. His decisions and actions over the last 2 years have killed many people and ruined the lives of countless more. If he had died he couldn't have done that so with hindsight I'd damn sure have pulled that lever and diverted the train at him to save the others. Do I wish him death in isolation? No. Do I wish he had died instead of the many more that he caused the death of? Yes
I think I’d pull the lever because I imagine my involuntary response would be to save them and then with that done, I’d hope some kind of miracle would intervene and save the 1. Rather than viewing it as killing the one, I’d see it as I could have saved 5 people and sat back and did nothing.
If the 5 were Baker, Johnson and 3 of Mogg, Gove, Patel, Jenrick, Hancock Raab etc, pretty endless list really. Then just save the 1.
That's one of the only times I've heard anybody actually tried to answer that question. What about if the one person was a child? Do you think you'd still make the same decision?
Wouldn't surprise me if a limit of 3 households was put in place for xmas, back to no standing up in a hospitality venue, and then after xmas back to beer gardens only in pubs for at least two weeks after new year. Still gets me that some European countries are imposing stricter conditions of entry from UK residents because of the numbers of cases yet they continue to test far less than us creating a ridiculous stance. Germany testing around a million fewer people so probably vastly under reporting true numbers.
Let's reframe it. You're a surgeon in a hospital, with one patient currently in a coma who is expected to make a full recovery. You have 5 other patients, each of whom requires a different organ transplant - they are expected to make full recoveries if they receive them, but will die within 24 hours if not. Do you chop the first bloke up for parts?
I think only it being someone personal to me would make me not. I honestly think I’d just do it without thinking as I couldn’t not try and save them. If the lever was right there and you can see the train going towards them, wouldn’t your hand just automatically reach out and do it? Someone personal to me on the other track would override the involuntary response. If I stopped and thought about it I’d be paralysed with indecision and do nothing (thereby killing the 5).
A lot because he is choosing to kill one person to save 5 orhers by using that man's organs In the first eg. Its just do you divert or not?
