Agreed, introduced the little un to it. Sky Arts and Disney for me this week. Phantom, Les Mis, Hamilton and In the Heights. Miss Saigon is also on. Do like a good musical, the missus hates them. So will be staying up with a few glasses of Havana club.
In 1958 my family was on holiday in Blackpool my sister who was 6 months old was not very well so my father took me and my brother to the pictures and it was the 1st showing of South Pacific my brother was 5 and I was 8 and to this day I still remember the film in great detail, just saying because it brought back memories because man and dad are no longer with us.
Not a big fan of musicals but I do like Young At Heart with Doris Day & Frank Sinatra. Stunning was a 20yr old Doris.
Me and the mrs love most musicals. I just have a problem with Andrew lloyd Webber ones. I Don't like em,
One I want to take my little un to is Wicked. Amazing musical and keeps you entertained throughout. Not a fan Lord Webber, but growing up was fascinated by Phantom. Probably because I couldn't believe Frank Spencer could sing. Finally saw it on my 30th Birthday, got best seats in the house in the Royal box. One of the best nights I've ever had. Nowt like being bowed to by a full cast first looool!
I've seen Wicked mate. Wasn't a fan. But as you say a treat for the younger ones. I would love to see a stage version of 'The greatest showman' Personal favourite among many great ones. 'Blood Brothers'
Love most musicals but South Pacific, despite the great music, always made me mad. The guy hiding his family because they weren't white. The leading lady, trying to "forgive him" for it. I saw it first as a kid, and right from the beginning I thought how awful these people were. Seven Brides for Seven Brothers beats it hands down any day
