This seems like heresy. I went to my first game at the age of 5, that was 67 years ago. I can’t remember much about it apart from a rosette that was almost as big as me. I’ve been a fan of the reds for at least 60 years when we used to play on a Friday night and we were under the threat of losing our league position. I lived in York and worked in Leeds and I drove to Darton just to buy a Chronicle on a Friday. I’m so disappointed by this year’s performance and the people in charge that I’m looking at the current window and wondering whether I can continue following the reds. We need to show some ambition and the closing of my beloved West Stand is almost the last straw. Wonder if I can get an ST for Spurs?
The West Stand is opening back up for the Blackpool game to be fair. I agree about the window though. Let’s hope we make a better job of it than the August one.
My introduction to Oakwell was the great Barnsley Boys team with Jimmy Greenhough. I wonder what kind of a team we will have at the end of January? It’s hard to be optimistic.
Why do people think this bunch will expend any money to preserve the league position? It seems contrary to previous experience.
Trawling the board before Christmas I saw we were linked with a striker playing for Sporting Gijon in the Spanish 2 nd league,I can't remember his name.If I get time I'll try and find out.
I’ll judge in about 36 days time. Over the last four years there’s been cash on the balance sheet to spend. This time round the cash has gone, a combination of accumulated loses and the impact of COVID. It really will be a sign of things to come. Hopefully this will be the best transfer window in the club’s history. Let’s be honest, it needs to be.
I too have watched the reds for 60 years & I too have a season ticket for the west stand but when I decide to walk away there is absolutely no way I could go & support another club & I am a tad surprised that like me you endured all the dross of the sixties & most of the seventies that a bad season in the championship could push you over the edge , watching football goes in cycles , rough with smooth etc & when we drop this season we can hopefully look forward to a more enjoyable season next year trying to get back .
I’m prepared for an underwhelming transfer window. Can’t imagine anyone be attracted to us other than for a bump in money considering our position etc.
Can see a couple of young Swedes on loan maybe. January is always difficult as most clubs are reluctant to sell. Assuming Woodrow leaves I’d like to see a replacement for him, Kane back from Oxford, another midfielder and a left back (imagine Vita will go back).
