I am looking to adopt a new rescue dog, i am looking for a medium to large dog who can live with another dog and 9 + year old kids, i have a good sized house and secure garden, i also work from home. Searching the internet to find a dog is difficult, due to covid you cant visit any centres and finding a dog that fits my set up is difficult but we can give a dog a lovely life. Any help finding one would be appreciatec.

Good luck, it’s a great thing to rescue rather than buying a pup. You may struggle to find one, mainly because of your kids but even more so when adding another dog into the equation, as many rescue centres won’t allow people to adopt in those circumstances. Best of luck with your search.
Greyhounds make great family pets - we currently have our third. They are very low maintenance but are not usually cat friendly. Have a look at the Retired Greyhound Trust, Sheffield, website where you can see the dogs waiting to be rehome.

That's exactly the trouble I'm finding I've been on every rescue centre website and keep finding kids and no other pets. I love dogs and I'm good training them aswell We have the space to give a dog a really good home. I've looked in to greyhounds and they are lovely dogs but my dog is quite lively and needs another lively mate I dont think I can offer a greyhound the right surroundings. I ll keep everyone updated on my search as I know dogs are important to lots of people on here.
It’s frustrating for sure but I can see why they do it. They’ll have the numbers of dogs that get returned when going to a house with kids/other pets and that just becomes an extra unsettled experience for them, that makes finding them a forever home even harder. They also won’t know the rescue dog’s history and how it will act in various situations, depending on its past experiences, and so can’t take the risk of it harming a child or other pet and the bad publicity that would cause - and the probable need to put the dog down. I see people who want to adopt saying how daft it is, as they could just buy a puppy without any of the rules, but I guess it’s like adopting a kid, anyone can just have their own but that doesn’t mean just anyone should be able to adopt a troubled child who needs a lot of support. These are dogs that, at times, need a lot of help and understanding. I hope you find a dog suitable for you and your family and please do keep us updated, I can’t wait to see pics!
I took my other dog on the visit to ensure they got on. I’ve had a couple from there, and in the same position as yourself with decent garden, other dog, and a young child. But knowledge of training a dog. They weren’t as zealous as the RSPCA who just didn’t want to risk it.
