That relies on us playing attractive football and winning though! At least with Val we met one of the criterion.

Regardless of the effect on players' value, Val's style got us a 1 in 4 crack at £120m or whatever the daft Premier League money is these days. Therefore it had an expected value of £30m.

Im struggling to see how, even if we were in midtable obscurity rather than staring down the barrel of relegation, a different playstyle woule add £30m to squad value.

“Barnsley had one of their five best seasons in their history – but there was not one offer for any player. If you look at developing and marketing players the value was zero.”

Forget everything else, if you take this statement at face value you could reasonably assume that the value of those same players in now below zero. In January we won’t be able to give them away.

This has to mean – as far as the board are concerned - the appointment of Val and his style of play was an utter disaster that destroyed their business plan.

Is it just me or is there no logical line of thought here? Where next?

Couple that with Conways complaint that getting to the playoffs cost us half a million pounds* its not hard to see where the priorities lie

    * I cant believe the club was 500K worse off due to playing two televised playoff games where fans were allowed in - even if in restricted numbers were allowed

Really you've challenged me on just about every post I've made on the subject.

I’ve asked you to confirm where you’ve seen the things you’ve repeated. That’s all. Because you don’t answer and say something else, I ask again.

To be fair you start a load of threads saying basically the same thing so I can imagine it feels like that when you combine it with the above.

That is of course unless he thinks we play in a franchise system.

You don't defend our owners in a very similar way as to how you don't defend Donald trump. Just saying :)

Feels a bit harsh that one. Also not true, because I doubt you'll be able to show me where I've defended them? But that's just a continuous cycle that never ends.

Purely my opinion Loko but I feel that coming up with excuses and reasons for their decisions and words is effectively defending them even if it isn't what you intend.

Where are excuses and reasons though? Just because I'm not replying to every thread, ranting and raving, being over the top aggressive, calling people names, having my posts filled with *****, doesn't mean I'm happier about the situation than you are or can be classed as 'pro-board'.

Stand by my original comment that your post was uncalled for. Felt point scoring-esque and antagonistic when point scoring isn't what's needed here.

Not point scoring at all. Just pointing out that you have a tendancy to not realise you're defending someone when the majority of people feel that you are.

I'm pretty open about my views and opinions, as everyone should be. I haven't been defending the board on anything recently though. To then try and bring Trump in to it, which is basically used to cast shade on someone, is point scoring. Whether you believe it be or not, it's a critical post.

    Re read the entire thread.

Still amazed that apart from the original post, only one person picked out JC

I was gonna mention this in the Kane thread. Bizarre thing for him to say: "Look how bad it was finishing 5th, we couldn't even sell anyone!!"

On Kane, people in other threads are saying that Palmer and Benson were appalling last night. No they weren't - not really. The Championship is (at least currently) above their level/ability. And on last night's showing, they probably wouldn't get in a top 6 League 1 team. Absolutely insane recruitment in the summer; I don't care who was overseeing it. Especially given the fact that we knew Mowatt was leaving at least 12 months before he did and that he would have to be replaced.

Well, Divisional Retention is (almost) certainly a bridge too far this season but you can bet we sell some players in the next 6 months. So I guess the plan is working for the Conway gang?

Anyway, don't ask questions. We let Frieser go out of the goodness of our hearts. We only need 7 strikers, and can play toddlers in midfield, anyway. There is no 500k and never was. Just be good little legacy fans. Dig deep again. Remy Vita is collective hallucination that we cannot ever acknowledge.
