Think we were expecting him to go there and come back like Mowatt did a few years back. Reckon we're making room for De Bruyne
Thing is there was already a player in there with Mowatt. All that year at Oxford did for him was waste a year of his contract he should have played with us.
If we were to bring a decent midfielder in on loan for the second half of the season, then I would understand letting Kane stay at Oxford. But what are the chances of us bringing anybody in, that gives us anything like what we need, in the first week of the window? More like we'll be linked with somebody for three and a half weeks, then sign another academy player on loan.
I think it’s fair to say the jury is still out on Herbie but unless we have 2 fantastic midfield plug and play lads lined up he couldn’t be worse than what we are currently working with.
I will reserve judgement for the time being. If we sign a central midfielder as soon as the window reopens, or bring in an experienced midfielder on loan for the rest of the season, in then I'm not too concerned. Kane is well under contract with us, so could be a good option next season. If we piss about for 3 weeks and then sign a 19 year old with no first team games on loan, I'll be pissed off. I have faith that it'll be the former, but as I say, I'm reserving judgment.
Let’s be honest he doesn’t back himself to do well in the championship it’s the only logical reason to stay at Oxford so good luck to him.
Pretty much where I stand on it. I was resigned to losing Woodrow, but if we had Kane back & an experienced holding midfielder in I would have been reasonably happy. We are not supplying the forwards with anything other than a few scraps. I'd like another striker in, but needs to be a mile better than what we signed in the summer. Composure is what is lacking. Last year we didn't need it as it was hoof the ball forward & chase it down. This season it is men against boys when we try & play it around. Palmer should have had an assist for Blackburn's first goal. Not to single him out completely as Benson, Gomes & Styles when they have played in the middle have all gifted the opposition possession in dangerous areas.
Maybe so looks like the biggest earner at the clubs going. Last time round alot of the players had wage deductions on relegation. Never going to recoup the 1.2 million paid at present.
Kane was worse than useless here, now he next messiah ,said it before he was totally outplayed by a Charlton reserve last time he had a red shirt on and subbed off in a 7 nil under 23 defeat,Oxford are welcome to him
i think its pretty simple they are in full scale panic mode. they are trying to get wages reduced or fully off the books if possible. if nobody wants any of our players in the coming transfer window and they cant sell the club to anyone were going into administration. The consortium do not have the financial means to own or run a football club or even pay for it for that matter. they do not have the business acumen ,means or connections to run, gain sponsors or bring in the required outside investment to run a club successfully. a investment groups aim is to buy something cheap and usually in a bad state of affairs and turn it around in the recognized maximum time frame of 5 years make it more attractive to other investors and sell it on for a profit for there investors. they have failed on every level. The club is a asset to them nothing else, its a football club it could be anything it doesn't matter. do not think for a second it is anything else to them. they have taken a club with 5 million on the books in cash reserves to a club probably in the red (the accounts are one year behind). the actual ground is in a way more worse state than before they arrived failing to even keep it to the required minimum state laid out in the rental agreement. they have disenchanted most of there customers . which with it being a football club and thus having loyal to the bone customers is a mighty and thought to be impossible feat . they have taken seemingly confident assured players and turned them into laughing stocks. Does any of the above matter no if they sell the club for a profit The Crynes wrote off 5 million pound of debt ,left them 5 million pound of money on the books plus the players !! and allowed them to pay in instalments which they planned to pay for by the buying and selling of assets(players) They Crynes literally paid them to take the club off them. they cannot lose which is why they are here. unfortunately its a matter of how much of a minimum profit they are willingly to accept to make it worthwhile to the investors. its sadly looking like it may be a case of they messed up so bad they just toss us to the wolves and they ride off into the sunset unmarked which is part of the business in buying distressed assets, some work others don't the trick is the timing if it goes wrong writing it off or getting out before its too late. if they sell the club make a profit and the club goes into admin the next day /months its job done for them. These people are snake oil salesman, nothing more nothing less. promising the world to desperate business owners and delivering nothing.
I don’t believe we paid anywhere near that for him. But the issue with undisclosed is you never really know until the accounts are released and even that takes a bit of guess work. There’s a lot of players over the last few years with inflated figures for what I’m led to believe we paid.
Is he worth more to the owners in a winning Oxford team or a losing Barnsley one. It’s a simple question the CEO has answered today.
