"Chief executive Khaled El-Ahmad, who has not been available for interview recently, last spoke publicly two months ago" Our CEO believes in a policy of transparency. What we didn't realise at the time was that he was referring to his ability to make himself invisible for long periods of time.
He is a bit Feng Shui I keep referencing his opening gambit about what he deems as success and I can just picture him organising his spider plants and cacti.
Bit worrying that the squad feel they have the quality but I’m sorry any half adequate set of players could grind out more than 2 wins in 24 games. So I would say the quality isn’t there unfortunately.
"Asbaghi (Heckingbottom, Stendel, Struber, Ismael) agreed that more experience in the squad would help, and added: “Of course we need to develop players but I know about the time, the games are going. We cannot say with five games left it is a learning process because we want to stay in the league. Young players can learn fast and the improvement level for them can be faster than an older player. I like to see it in that way.” Like bloody groundhog day.
I think we're lesser than the sum of our parts. I don't believe we're world beaters by any means but I do believe a different manager with this set of players would have won more games and amassed enough points to be out of the relegation places. Val made us greater than the sum of our parts. This season the opposite is true.
Not sure I agree with you. The keeper, defence and even the forwards are good enough for us to be clear of the bottom 6. That midfield though is woefully weak, that’s why we’re so poor. A blind man could see it. Whether our owners can or want to will be clear by Feb 1st.
I just think it's too late now. We can't afford to even take a full month transfer window to sort this shambles. Players need to able to go from the window opening. It just won't happen.
It is too late now I agree. I want to see some activity in terms of offering hope for next season. A couple of midfielders for a start. I’m not holding my breath though….
I agree with you, under Valball last season the midfield didn’t matter and we had a real quality midfielder anyway in Mowatt. This season we lost our only championship experienced midfielder and replaced him with Benson hoping he could step up - letting Kane go out on loan was widely approved of- probably again people being deceived by Valball and the value of midfielders. As it is Benson has been a serious disappointment so far, Palmer has not kicked on as we would have hoped and the much anticipated switch of Styles to the middle has been a failure. The team is crying out for an experienced man in the middle of the park to organise and build around. We can all see this, but the people in charge instead get a kid from City’s under 21s in, which must be related to our new CEOs background as it makes no sense to pay city the money we are getting for Kane from Oxford to keep a player who cannot under any analysis be said to be better then Kane.
My only hope for next season is I looked at Sunderland's line up when they were on telly the other day and hadn't heard of any of their players. Don't be afraid of the teams below because of their names. Rotherham were dogger last season and they're tearing League 1 a new one.
Kane this and Kane that, he is useless, league 1 is as good as he is, just because he was in Liverpool reserves does not make him a world beater
