https://www.theguardian.com/world/2...-covid-advisers-enduring-tidal-waves-of-abuse This is what odious arseholes like Steve Baker and his buddies have caused by their ignorant and spiteful comments in the press aimed at SAGE etc. No different to Trump on 6th January. This really boils my blood.
The same people who wound up the nutter that put a bullet in Jo Cox not that they'd ever acknowledge the fact. They are the reason why Bojo the clown was scared off bringing in tighter restrictions and we are faced with millions going out tonight getting wrecked and spreading the new variant far and wide just as the evidence is starting to come in saying the hospitals are starting to fill up.
The country, I am afraid, is awash with deeply unpleasant people, and profoundly stupid people. And many who are both. And social media, where people think they can say what they want under the cloak of anonymity, really is the scourge of modern society. If I had one wish, it would be that twitter in particular could be uninvented. Or shut down. I have no idea why anyone with any kind of public profile would be on it and subject themselves to it.
As Facebook but yes agree totally but there are key individuals in positions of power as mentioned in the OP who have enabled this along with sections of the media
A rather bleak view of the world, but sadly all too accurate. The BBS, however, seems to be a bit of an exception to the rule. It generally appears to be populated by quite like-minded reasonable people. There is hope yet.
I thought that was because Bojo would have to recall parliament and then put any extra measures to a vote of his party before trying to make them policy, thereby not having to rely on the opposition to get a vote passed whilst getting a bloody nose from his own?
Disgusting behaviour but not a surprise given the way our media have whipped up hatred for years supported by a hate filled government
I'd take Twitter over Facebook any day. Won't even maintain my business account on the latter (they don't let you not have one) because I find it so toxic.
Went to the cinema earlier this week and the Whitty booster advert played in the trailers. Some absolute cretin started spouting off about it. Then you read stories from doctors in ICU wards with covid patients literally on their deathbed begging for the vaccine, so clueless as to how vaccines work that they think they can have it when their organs are already failing. So misinformed that they chose not to get jabbed because of some ***** they read, and were too proud to admit their ignorance.
Anybody can set one up on for your business, and if you don't claim and maintain it - for which you need a personal account - then it just sits there, and I think can have details updated by anyone. Similar to how Google do it, although they're not quite as bad at forcing you into their ecosystem and are a lot more useful what with putting you on the maps and all that.
