FOREST CLASH POSTPONED Club News Barnsley Football Club's Sky Bet Championship fixture against Nottingham Forest at the City Ground on Monday 3 January has been postponed. Continue reading on the official site...
If any club cannot field 14 professional footballers from their entire playing staff then they are absolutely negligent in my opinion. It's also completely wrong to allow teams to cancel games due to a shortage of players when the transfer window is open.
The sceptic in me says Forest have just had 2 bad results and are looking to regroup before going again.
All these teams with big squads being allowed to postpone and it’s my bet that smaller clubs with threadbare squads will be told to play or punished if circumstances reversed .
Ridiculous, so they've backed down to Stoke City and now Nottingham Forest and we're going to be impacted with a condensed fixture list. Forest should be taken to task over this.
Unless every single player/staff within the club has tested positive then I don't think it's that daft. Probably 90% of playing staff are fit and ready to go, they might just not be first team.
Why? Forest have used 34 players so far this season in their matchday squad, they also have 3 experienced pros that they haven't used at all yet taking that up to 37. On top of that they will undoubtedly have young players who have signed professional contracts. And yet they can't field 14 players? Either it's absolute rubbish or they. Like many others, are fiddling the system for some reason
And if they have all tested positive then the question needs to be asked why and who are football clubs in England having a much higher rate of transmission than anyone else?
For what it's worth, and this only my personal opinion, either clubs should be made to play using U23s or U18s if necessary, or all three points go to the opposition. I'm pretty sure both Stoke and Forest would have played if that was the case. In essence, clubs like us (who aren't asking for games to be cancelled, despite positive cases) are being punished. From a selfish point of view, I myself tested positive this morning so at least I'll be there at the rescheduled game. But not at Oakwell on Saturday... Stay safe!
Whilst I don’t go along with the rhetoric here entirely, it does seem a little fortunate that forest have signed a player on loan from villa who wouldn’t have been eligible tomorrow, but will be for any rearranged date.
From a selfish point of view I'd have thought you'd be annoyed that you now only miss one game rather than two. At least the rest of us can choose not to watch us at the moment Agree completely with your point. They are playing the system because the EFL wrote such a wishy washy rule that basically allows 1 positive test and 35 overnight injuries that clear up within a week.
What if this keeps up for the next few months ? Will the season continue? And what does it mean for the likes of Derby County and relegations?
I don t make the rules. This is as a result of a combination of injuries and positive Covid-19 cases in the Forest squad resulting in less than the minimum numbers of players available to fulfil the fixture under EFL rules. You may not agree with em. You may believe the figures are being fiddled. But to cobble a side together is not for me.
