Oh we would be laughing, remember taking the piss out of rotherham the season they set the record low points total of 23 and we're going to finish around the 20 point mark. It's a disgrace we've managed 2 wins so far this season. Don't know where the next one is coming from!
I was going to say L1 next season for our next win . I agree, Barrow can just sit in deep, be well organised and we will struggle to break them down! They know we can't ******* score so all they need to do is stay in the game and they could nick it! Put it this way, it wouldn't be a shock if we lose.
Two wins and yet some still think the board can do no wrong and none of the problems are their fault.
In the summer we appointed, as our head coach, the coach from a village team in Austria. We gave the guy whose team play on the local council's athletics track infield the job of head coach in the English Championship. The entire population of Hartberg, the club from which he came, could be seated in the West Stand and there'd still be 1,000 empty seats. When that didn't work out (who would have thunk it?), we employed, as his successor, someone who has never played professional football in his life. Someone who has only coached in Sweden, who is only 36, who took IFK Gothenburg to 7th and 11th in a 16 team Swedish Premier League where half of the teams average less than 6,000 fans, and a quarter average less than 4,000, before being sacked in his third season for going 12 games without a win. 12 games without a win when he's managing IFK Gothenburg and they're playing pub sides. If the bus bringing the players' wives breaks down on the way to these games the attendance is halved. He managed to win just 24 of his 78 games in charge, losing 30 of them. That's like Barnsley being in a League with Sheff Utd, Rotherham, Doncaster, Woolley Miner's Welfare, Darfield, Wilthorpe, The King George, Pats for Pants Barnsley Market Traders, Penistone Church Reserves, Horizon Second XI, YMCA Homeless XI and losing most of them. Admittedly, we probably would at the moment, but I reckon that's got a hell of a lot to do with who is coaching the team. We've only won 2 games? Of course we have! What did anyone expect to happen?! It's like Jim'll Fix It is being broadcast from Hell and on every single show some random bloke turns up and wants to manage Barnsley in The Championship and he bloody well fixes it for them.
If you'd posted that a couple of days ago, I'd have awarded it Post Of The Year. You're still in with a good chance for 2022, though. Love it.
Out of 5 head coaches the owners have appointed only stendel and val.have been good appointments. Morais- a good head coach could have kept us up struber-kept us up by default negative style schopp- clueless poya-jurys still out early signs not good.
I think Struber was a good coach. Not a fan of him and how he left but thought he performed amazingly to get us out of that.
I agree we did well with the appointments of Stendell Struber and Ishmael Badly with Morais appallingly with Schopp and it looks like so far the current coach isnt much of an improvement on Schopp though I am not saying he should be sacked yet - I do think he was the wrong appointment in the first place though
You can't get it right all the time. Morais was a huge mistake, the board knew it within a couple of weeks, but it was too late by then. They sacked him within minutes of us being relegated, before I even made it home. Sometimes you get it wrong, I'm fine with that. Particularly as they then struck gold with three appointments on the trot. I didn't like how they dismissed Stendel, but then I really didn't like how Struber engineered his move away, so I guess it's a cutthroat business. Val was gone as soon as we didn't make it through the play-offs. It was obvious from his post-match interview. There's a good thread on here where a few people picked up on that instantly and were told they were talking rubbish. It really couldn't have been more obvious. Schopp was out of his depth. A long way out of his depth. There was a match I was watching on a stream where I was shouting at the monitor because we were getting done in the same way time and time again, after being done in the same way time and time again in the previous three matches, but Schopp was doing nothing at all to combat it. It was just so obvious what the problem was and what we needed to do to remedy it. And then I stopped shouting, because the co-commentator began shouting. This wasn't a Barnsley commentary, it might have been on Sky, he wasn't a Barnsley fan, he was just a football guy, and he was losing his rag with our manager because he couldn't understand why we weren't changing our play to attempt to defend this. Never heard anything like it in over 45 years of watching and listening to football commentary. And he was bang on. But I'm still not that upset with his appointment. Schopp was a good international player with bucket loads of experience and he'd taken a very small and unfancied side into the top Austrian division. That's not as difficult as it sounds. Barnsley would be the third biggest town if it was relocated to Austria. After Vienna, Graz, Linz, Salzburg and Innsbruck, there's no one there, it's beautiful scenery and Lederhosen. Our board have drastically overestimated the standard of Austrian football in terms of signing both players and a managers. Hopefully that experiment is over. But he still wasn't a terrible appointment, even though it worked out that way. I do understand the thinking even if I don't agree with it. He should have been sacked sooner, it was clear he just couldn't do it, but I'm not going to have a go at anyone for standing by someone they've put faith in and giving them a further chance. The latest appointment is just mental. In every way. With his experience there is no way on earth Asbaghi should be managing a Championship side in the English Football League. He shouldn't be managing a League 2 side. He has done nothing to be given a job of this stature. We've hired him because he's young, because the board believe if you sign someone when they're young and cheap, be that a player or a manager you can make some money on them. This appointment is absolutely ridiculous.
I think your posts in this thread are spot on. Perhaps the board have got things the wrong way round. Instead of trying to import managers from Austria and Sweden perhaps it would be a better idea for them to relocate BFC to Austria.... Maybe they're thinking along those lines already, hence the talk of stadium moves.
