I had a conversation with my son today. Its been a while since we discussed BFC but we got to the topic after chatting about the unrest of Lukaku at Chelsea and Aubameyang at Arsenal. It got us thinking that the four players right now that arguably we would look to cash in are Styles, Woodrow, Collins and Helik. All their contracts expire in 2023 I believe, which means we are close to moving to final year. Styles has an option to extend so maybe less priority. Im convinced that Conway will therefore be now looking to maximise the cashing in. With two transfer windows where we can potentially seek a fee (I don't think Jan 2023 window will earn us much). One of those is right now, the other end of the 2022 season.

What do we think will happen. Push to sell and cash in asap? Push new contracts, which are unlikely to be signed when in the final year and hence leave for nowt end of contract? Do we think any will sign an extension right now?

If a bid comes in for anyone it will be accepted.

Although I'm not sure why anyone would bid on any of our players.

I think Helik is the most likely to leave.

Keep Collins and Woodrow until the end of the season.

I've wondered this recently but don't know (probably can't find out) the answer so here it is.....

Regarding player wages is it the 'norm' to maybe get wages halved following a relegation ? If so I reckon we''ll get pilaged as we already pay way less than most.

We've got a £6m deficit to make up (championship - L1). Players will be offloaded this month no doubt to try and maxmise their value (and reduce the wage bill) although I'm still not convinced we will command transfer fees anything like what Conman and Chien expect.

I think there is a relegation clause in a lot of contracts, but not half, not these days with lots of different avenues to make money

What is the status of Woodrow and Heliks injuries ?
Presuming this may/could effect ins and outs

If anyone thinks Woodrow or Helik are injured, your more crackers than I am. This tactic is as old as the hills, don't play the players your selling due to the risk of them getting injured and the deal falling through.

Woodrow, Helik and Styles will be sold. They will be replaced by 20-year-olds we've been tracking for ages (2 weeks probably) and we're dead excited about what they can offer the first team squad.

Poya will reiterate that he is just here to coach and he prefers it that way, God give me strength.

You think Helik started at Blackburn, and went off after an hour, because he’s being sold?

I think anyone wanting to buy our outfield players in January can only do so because they haven't seen any of their games this season. Collins is the only player that can say he's done well this season. If the rest were not wanted after one of our best ever seasons, I don't see why they would be wanted after the performances they have put in this season. The biggest loss of form and disappointment for me is Helik who would be very lucky to keep getting called up by Poland.

Helix could go to a top Championship or lower Premiership club (West Brom, Norwich, Burnley etc). We should hold out for a decent fee, but would probably accept £2-3m. Woodrow will move on, but not to a top club. I'd like to keep Styles as long as possible, but again he'd leave if somebody offered £1m+. I could see Collins going as a back-up keeper to a top club for less than £1m.

Wouldn’t surprise me if Woodrow wanted to leave, but he might be more difficult than expected to sell for any sort of meaningful fee. Especially if Fulham would be owed a chunk of it. West Brom have already signed their preferred striker, as have forest. Sadly, I can see woodrow leaving late in the window, after a number of other deals have been done.

I'd guess Helik, Woodrow, and Styles sold..

Sibbick and Hondamarck loaned out... no getting a lookin with Poya... Maybe spoke out of turn.

Sell Miller for a small fee to Walsall..

Thomas to return cos nobody wants him basically..

Why would Walsall pay a fee for Miller? Isn’t there some rule that says you can only play for two clubs in one season? In which case we can’t sell him to anybody else. Plus his scoring form seems to have reverted to type in the last couple of months.

Other than Collins I wouldn't want us to sign any of our players. If we did I'd be disappointed. We're the worst team in the league and I wouldn't want any of them. Why would a better team want them?

Thomas could get a look in in a front 3 if he knuckles down.
