So so proud of my best friend from uni. Don't know if anyone just watched that but she was the officer who led the interviews and the prosecution of a man who murdered an 11 week old baby. Don't know how she does her job, particularly interviewing one of the other kids about how he hit her.

How she and the other coppers didn't lose it with him when they collected him from hospital I'd have fastened his wheelchair to the back of the car and dragged him to the station if I'd have been there .They should have refused the ******* any painkillers after he tried the cowardly way out by trying to top himself, again without a thought for the poor van driver he jumped out in front of. Hope the evil **** is getting what he deserves in spades inside whichever prison he's in.

Haven't watched it yet but it's a great programme for showing how hard the police work to secure prosecutions.

Watching on +1. Your mate comes across extremely well. Shockingly sad case though.

Awful, awful case. Don't know how she does it. The way she draws him in during the interview is brilliant, and keeping completely calm when he's sat a yard away from her

I won't watch it because I don't want any of that in my head or in my life. That doesn't mean I'm not in awe of the people who do these amazing things. I am, and I also know how proud it makes us feel when we have a friend who does these things. Not because it reflects well on us, just because we love our friend and we're proud of them for being them. Being proud of someone has nothing to do with the similar word 'Pride', being proud of someone is an entirely selfless feeling of...

    Of exactly that.

She did a great job, which is more than I can say for the judge with their sentencing.

Watched it last night and just read the post. My thoughts were that she was truly outstanding and a credit to her profession.

Police seem to take a lot of stick but I have nothing but admiration for them & this programme highlights what they have to deal with when dealing with scum like the murderer exposed on this documentary , I do not know how they keep their hands off them but they are so professional & really do carry out a tough job, I have watched this programme since its conception & it has become a must watch for me

24 Hours in Police Custody is one of my favourite shows, I love real life Police procedurals.

It goes to show how hard the Police work to secure a charge, never mind thinking about a conviction.

I'm glad they have to work hard to do so, thankfully long gone are the days where people were beaten or interrogated until they signed a confession.

To do justice the convictions must be achieved with he highest degree of surety and nowadays 99% of the time the Police deliver.

Unfortunately, on at the same time was the BBC drama based on the murders of Stephen Port, he would probably have got away with three murders because the Police took the line that the victims were gay and therefore using GHB and a bit dodgy.

To be fair to the Judge - there are strict rules about the sentence and tarif - its a mandatory life sentence and he cant be released for 18 years as a minimum - I doubt that in the circumstances the Judge had a lot of leeway on the minimum tarif

Fair enough if they are shackled by guidelines. What about the 2 yrs community order given to the other guilty party in this murder?

Too lenient given there was a catalogue of injuries throughout his tragically short life.

She was (rightly or wrongly) acquitted at trial of causing or allowing death and serious injury and found guilty of neglect. So the sentencing was based on that offence.

Whilst not wanting to be dismissive of your friends efforts Just to put an opposite/ balanced view/ side, whilst dramatised based on true stories if you have watched Four lives and Anne the complete incompetence of our police and judicial system at its finest and if you hadn’t guessed not a fan of our boys in blue.

It’s not just the dramas either.
Sit through an episode of Police Interceptors and you’ll see our boys (and girls) in blue ride roughshod over police procedures.

However, 24 hrs in police custody isn’t alone in showing some brilliant police work, also that doc about gang violence in Manchester and the one about the guy who raped all those blokes in Manchester.

Incredible programme which showed the worst and best of humanity. It's a hard watch, I saw it on Virgin catch-up and noted that there weren't any adverts shown.
