Pink Panthress takes the title. Now, I've had a listen and I'm struggling to see what the fuss is here. She uses a lot of samples, some of which are just literal cut and pastes. There's nothing new or novel going on. I just don't get it. Just to clarify, I'm not saying it's rubbish music, just that it's not really worthy of being the "sound of 2022" in my opinion. Is it just me? It's just me isn't it https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/entertainment-arts-59733291
Not listened as yet but "breathy vocals" was mentioned in the article, so if it's anything like Billie Eilish in terms of 'singing' then nah I'm alright. Starting to sound like my dad.
Radio 1 Dance on a Friday night for me. I'm struggling to understand why Pink Pantheress won. Suppose its a teenage thing especially as she hides herself on tiktok.
I can't even cope with 6Music now let alone Radio 1 though I make an exception for Cerys on a Sunday morning. Radio 3 for me.
Each to their own. I'm 60 now and I doubt many of Pink Pantheress's followers will be interested in listening to the kind of shìt that excites me... Zeppelin, Bowie, Queen, Floyd, Yes, King Crimson, Killing Joke, Banshees, Stranglers, XTC, Rush, Judas Priest, Steely Dan, Porcupine Tree, Pineapple Thief, Oceansize, Joy Division ...and too many others to list.
