POYA ON BARROW TIE Interviews The Head Coach looks ahead to Saturday's clash in the Emirates FA Cup. Continue reading on the official site...
Well, I'm only 3 minutes in and it is uninformative and depressing. No news is good news, so they say.
I watched it to the end. Not quite sure why. What a thoroughly depressing interview. To save anyone else 22 minutes of their life, he basically says "wait and see" ... "I don't want to go into detail" ... and "I'm not sure" a lot of times. You're welcome.
What exactly do you want him to say? If there's been no bids for players, and there's no signs of any new signings what can he do?
His command of English is good. His ability to actually answer questions with content and detail isn't sadly. I never thought I'd see the day when we had more boring press conferences than Hecky towards the end of his tenure.
There are a couple of moments in the interview where you can try and infer something.... firstly, sadly, I suspect Sibbick is on his way (Asbaghi pretty much refused to answer). Secondly, there's a moment where he goes off on a weird tangent about picking players on merit from training (when asked about Vita) and not just because they are on loan or not on loan or what their name is, or what their transfer value may be. It's odd because there are very few moments where he actually gets drawn on anything, so it seems strange this was one of them.
You forgot the word "No" . He certainly didn't give anything away and was as downbeat as you can get. Nothing of a positive note when asked about injured players returning or incoming signings(or anything for that matter). I bet he is a bunch of laughs at staff parties as he comes across as having little sense of humour( and having a sense of humour is essential for Barnsley fans as things stand)
People complained a I think you could work with someone like Pep who doesn't seem to have much of a sense of humour because you know you're playing in the best team and he did it as a player. Might feel differently with Poya.
Poya the most uninspiring bfc head coach/manager ive ever known beat the likes of marcus schopp, glynn hodges, spackman.... Imagine this bloke attempting to motivate you before going out, we should have just got flicker back least he could pump his chest a little and had some life in him.
I'm sure he's a decent guy, just as I'm sure Schopp was too. But if we look at the state we're in now compared to before his arrival and hindsight suggests we should have stuck with Schopp to save us the pay off and the compensation to get Asbaghi.
