Err, I don’t want to be funny but Covid passes were NOT required yesterday when we entered. I was at the middle entrance to the East Stand in a very long queue. As we got towards the turnstile I offered proof of my pass to one of the Stewards who was looking intently at the queue. “He said I don’t need to see that, I’m just checking bags.” When we got to the turnstile, the ticket was scanned and that was it, we were in. No Covid pass checks.
That wouldn't really make sense though. They expire one month from you downloading the pass and it isn't linked to how long since you last had a jab. Someone could have had their booster jab 30 days ago, downloaded the pass immediately and it would expire in 1 day despite having the highest and newest level of protection. Someone else could have only had 2 jabs 8 months ago and download the pass today and it won't run out for 30 days. I know technically it's not possible to get the pass immediately after the jab is administered but you get my point. The only reason that I can think of is so that they can bring in new laws to say you need 3 jabs to be vaccinated or 4 or 5 and so they need all passes to expire and only be reissued if they have had the extra jabs etc. It makes sense when you think about it because when making the pass they needed to make it future proof
I think it’s more to do with the 28 day period but you could be right with this shower of **** Govt anything could be true.
In practice it has to be. You aren't going to be sure of the numbers beforehand, when you've got pay on the day.
The club is aware of live data for how many people are in the ground. One of the things specifically mentioned in the covid passes guidelines is that event organisers who decide not to use passes should monitor that live data and halt admissions once the 10,000 mark is met. Or it's something along those lines anyway.
No club is going to risk having to turn away customers for the sake of doing some checks. Like I say in practice it has to be like that.
"English football fans must have COVID passes to enter stadiums with 10,000+ capacity from next week" - From Government website in December. That's why some clubs, Rotherham included, have reduced their stated capacity to 9,999.
Our capacity was less than 10,000 yesterday wasn't it? They only opened the East Stand for home supporters and used netting to limit the North Stand for away supporters.
if the club's policy is to have passes, they should be strictly enforcing it at the turnstiles. people might think they're doing people a favour by being casual and/or turning a blind eye, but they're really not. it's inconsistent and all it does is create more confusion.
erm...doesn't that rather defeat the object of the exercise? I'm required to have one but don't have to show it to get admittance to the ground.
Its not "don't have to". You should have been asked, the fact you weren't doesn't mean you didn't have to. The fault is with the turnstile operator
Tbf, the kids were inside the ground having gone in first so I can see why rhe steward made that decision given the game had kicked off. But I can't believe some turnstiles didn't ask for the pass at all that is shocking.
Ha ha. I think you’ll find the liability rests with the Club. They have broken the Covid regulations.
