Yesterday we played with a two up front , something a lot of us have wanted for a while , until Morris came on the pitch our front two were totally ineffective , Cole did come to life after Morris came on but the movement , the runs , the control , the pressing etc were totally none existent , these are all attributes that Woodrow brings to the table plus given the chances you know he will score . Morris cannot carry the attack on his own we have to try & hang on to Woodrow & play them as a two, they are both championship class whilst the rest are simply not , if Woodrow leaves I doubt we will replace him with anyone who has the quality we need , in fact its support for these two we require , may be a loan striker from a premier club to bring that quality in might be an answer .

A game in which two of our strikers scored goals seems an odd thing to use as support for Woodrow to be honest.

To be fair, the OP has said to partner with one of them. And, apart from the worldie of a finish, do you honestly think Cole had an effective game?

I think if you read my post I was highlighting that the strike force we started with before Morris came on was totally inept & did I not put this across clear enough ? , if so I apologise but you may have a different opinion & were quite happy with the pairing that started the game , I certainly was not .

If you were there you wouldn’t back Cole to get 20 goals in the rest of his career at this level

I see you did not mention Victor, do you think he has lots of goals in his locker at this level ?

Morris is the key player for me. He has the ability and nous to get into the right places and can stick it in the net. Woodrow has been rightly criticised this season but given the right support from midfield would make an excellent partnership with Morris.

Thought Vic linked up well with Brittain down the left side up until the first goal then he didn`t seem to be involved as much, yes he made the odd mistake but then we have a team full of mistakes at the moment.

Thought we were going 4-3-3 and Vita was the 3rd striker playing on the right rather than where he should play.

We have this strange habit of playing lb as a striker or on his wrong side

It's a case of if we don't know what we are doing then it should confuse the opposition

Arent you just stating the obvious here most of us already knew vic isnt good enough and like you say cole came to life and scored a great goal when playing along side morris who works very hard holds the ball up brings others into play and bagged 2 himself making him joint top scorer and he has been injured most of the season obviously woodrow and morris in a top 2 with cole a impact sub would be most peoples choice but again yesterday showed how weak our midfield is and thats the main issue.

I don’t think there’s many that want Woodrow dropped. We want him to start playing better but we know the rest of the forwards aren’t up to it (apart from Morris) so you aren’t going to see many calls for him to be dropped.

Cole’s frustrating. He’s bone idle & doesn’t want to get involved in the physical side of the game. He’s got talent as well which is the annoying thing.

Woodrow would have bagged a couple in that game. Especially alongside Morris. 4-4-2, it's not hard is it? Instead we've had two managers this season who want to try and reinvent the wheel. Am I the only one who saw yesterday's team selection as a (not so pretty ) vision of the post window future? No Woodrow, Collins or Helik. By coincidence our three most saleable assets. Poya trying to see what else he's got

Cole was not given one decent pass all game, had to drag the goal out himself through determination starting off with back to goal,do people actually watch the game?

I agree whole heartedly regarding the midfield & a stronger midfield would mean better service for the strikers but I started the thread because the departure of Woodrow would appear to be imminent according to many ,although hopefully this is disproved but I think his situation & the midfield problem both want sorting as a priority & yesterdays merely highlighted this .

Yet when Morris came on, he grabbed the game by the scruff of the neck and looked the best player on the pitch. All against the same defenders that Devante and Victor showed virtually nothing.

He was given so much time and space in the first half against a 10 man League 1 side and couldn’t deliver .
I give you a good goal late in the game but the other 120 minutes we’re extremely in effective (together with a number of others).

Different kind of player ,Cole plays on the shoulder, making runs in behind ,Morris was played in between frontline and midfield picking ball up in space and was able to run at defence,Morris was class player on pitch ,but Cole had zero service all game ,even when Vita got in behind he still did not find Cole

What you chatting he never had one pass to run onto or one decent ball into box,how can a forward who gets no service affect the game ??
