I think its probably more a case of lazy journalism putting 2 and 2 together. There could be a player in there but on current form you wouldnt sign him for a sign pushing for promotion been nothing short of a liability and i felt abit sorry for him against barrow dropped some right clangers

Agree on current form. Just saying it’s not so out there that there is zero chance there’s something in it. Especially knowing how highly regarded this signing was, by the current West Brom manager, in January last year.

He’s not the only one I feel sorry for at the moment. Clangers are more obvious for defenders/goalkeepers.

After reading this dour thread and the lack of activity and based on the current board's seeming unwillingness to spend anything like necessary I would think the only two players we'll be in for will be Hymer Cheapun or Bill Slow. Depressing and a further nail in divisional retention's coffin (casket).

Wigan have just signed Graeme Shinnie from Derby for a rumoured £30k. Probably on wages we wouldn't be offering and at an age that wouldn't be of interest to our board, but always looked a decent player for Derby.

I agree its more obvious with defenders and goalkeepers when mistakes are made but it was eye opening how many simple mistakes were made against a side 2 divisions below.

A decent holding midfielder who can also play left back with good leadership skills. We should have been interested though as you say his wages would have been an issue.

Kitching will end up being a good player. He looked ok before we entered the full shambles mode.

Any actual rumours around for signings? It's a bit concerning that we've not brought anyone in yet! We needed to act fast. Luckily we've had some postponed, lol.

I think the fact that there are no rumours tells you everything you need to know...

Still the same message from Doug O'Kane....

The worrying thing is, in previous transfer windows, there'd be reports on what positions that we are looking at. Last Jan, O'Kane reported on the club looking for a defender and a striker, as we then signed Kitching and Morris. Then in the summer, it was reported that we were looking for a midfielder and a left back. We then signed Gomes and Vita. Granted, they're very inexperienced, but at least we knew we were looking.

Are we actually trying to improve our midfield in this window? Or do something to cover the fact we're unlikely to see much of Woodrow and Oulare this season, having already offloaded Frieser?

And to think, we could have probably added Butterfield and Kane to our midfield options, with little outlay. Neither as good as Mowatt, but likely an improvement on what Palmer and Benson have been offering.

It's becoming more and more apparent that the club really is skint. They were relying on a couple of sales to make any signings and with Woodrow and Helik getting injured that plan has so far been scuppered.
We'll get Khaled's take on it tomorrow......can't wait lol.

I think there truth in this although the board have themselves to blame for been skint when they took over we had a very healthy balance sheet and a good squad now well....
Relegation looking likely schopp #2 as head coach who gets a nose bleed when the ball enters the opposing half, a group of fans wanting change at the top, owners in court battles. Worrying times ahead?

Clearly there isn't any cheap kids available. Maybe saving on our £300, bit like ST holders

He must have left a lasting impression in his 10 minutes appearance two months ago.
