My mum had major issues renewing her license.

Never got through once. She ended up going to citizens advice who got her to write a letter of complaint.

It took 6 months to get her license renewed finally.

The recording says try on line for basic enquires .. so you go on line and of course, HGV's cannot be done on line.. so you just go round in a circle.
Good job there's no shortage of HGV drivers aye..

Are you trying to renew a HGV licence?
When is it due to expire?

Yes and no... My Hgv licence was suspended, in October because my doctor put me on insulin injections. But after three months and having a record of blood sugar levels while on insulin, I can reapply for my licence back..

Hope you get it sorted soon mate. The last thing we need is HGV drivers prevented from working by something stupid like this.

Went through a similar thing in November, but I managed to get my Dr to change medication, which avoided all this.
Does a D2 pack not cover it?
If not might be a long shot but I would try contacting OTC in Leeds as they are easier to contact, not strictly their thing but might at least put you in contact.

Thanks mate .. should be ok now I've managed to get through.. But the process is there for everyone's safety. You would't want unfit people driving big lorry's, so l totally except the process, just the fact I couldn't get through to Swansea in the weeks previous was the ballache.

The DVLA are an absolute disgrace of an organisation. I applied to re-new my HGV & PSV licences back in September and I'm still waiting. Numerous phone calls and emails and still nothing. They say is because a lot of staff are working from home so there's a delay, we'll no **** sherlock. Working from home still means 'working ' .

Have you got a current one or had one when applied or renewing cos you’ve been away from the industry?

They’ll all be ‘working’ from home. Be at Tesco or walking the dog. It’s the new normal and a great excuse for poor service.

They should automatically send out a renewal form 56 days before yours expires then.
Mine expires in March and arrived on Friday.
If you don’t get it back before it expires as long as nothing has changed from your last one you can drive until it arrives.
