So we wont pay £15k a week in wages and cant afford a experienced player as they dont want “average” wages Im not sure why were all shocked why were doing so terribly. Were a league one or two club with our mentality. Weve spent a good fair amount of time in the championship and still not prepared to go to the next level and give it a try. Not saying go silly and put our selves in a risky situation but come on. If you want to put yourselves in with the bigger teams and thats where we see ourselves then you have to try and compete.
Yep. We don't need to spend £6m in order to ensure we get £6m TV money next time round, but investing nothing means we will get zero sniff of the TV dosh. We will not come straigh back up next season.
Brentford have been paying top dollar by the looks of it and its paid off but what if hadn't? We've already been spending most of our turnover on wages it seems.
Our best hope regarding tv money is if BT and Amazon get more top flight games and start dipping their toes into the Championship. Sky will still want more League 1 and 2 football and have to pay for it.
Is this from the interview? THought he said 25k for the experienced loan player they'd enquired about ? If we've got a budget we have to stick to and want to be self-sufficient we have to work to the budget we have available hence the discussion about 1-3 players. Doesn't it depend what deals can be done with incoming/outgoing players? It'll all happen at the end of the windows, as always.
He mentioned £15k for players in the Summer and £25k for loan players in this window. As an FYI for everyone, Doug O'Kane has given a brief update here on some of the topics discussed - but it was two and a half hours long so it only touches the sides really. https://www.barnsleychronicle.com/article/22164/reds-ceo-el-ahmad-speaks-on-various-oakwell-issues
