no one as thrashed us, Fulham and Bournemouth got 4 and 3 , but they been hitting 6 and 7 against teams, we losing by odd goal or drawing, I honestly think that if we sign a decent midfielder to baby sit the lads we got and get us organised we stay up Peterborough,Reading,Cardiff,Derby, they all there for the catching, our young lads will come good this 2nd half of season, you wait and see, they always try our lads COYR 12 POINTS out of our next 6 games is my prediction to get us back in the hunt
respect your enthusiasm, but personally think we'll struggle to hit 30 points. I've not seen or heard anything that gives me confidence we'll bring in the quality we need in January, to give us a fighting chance. and we've lost Woodrow. and we've got a fixture pile-up. and we've got a coach that seems to just be carrying on where schopp left off. I think we're sunk.
A decent midfield signing wouldn’t get us promotion form imo and that’s what’s needed now unfortunately .
the new midfielder would also need to be able to get 20 goals in the 2nd half of the season, because our forwards aren't. Morris is our only regular scorer, hes scored more himself than all the others put together! We need a miracle!!
It's actually miraculous that we havent been thrashed, looking back at the majority of games we could and should have been well and truly annihilated, before half time in some cases. That in most parts is due to the opposition missing easy chances, not our solid defending. Collins has saved us from a battering on more than one occasion this season also.
Maybe on the odd occasion, but I can give you far more examples where we've still been in a game, and then given it away by a silly midfield error. Millwall and Swansea being the most glaring. A lot is made of Swansea's possession in that game, but they'd had 3 shots prior to scoring, we limited them but seemingly lost our heads with about 15 to go and conceded on the counter.
It's the 20th January and we've not bought anyone yet. This suggests to me that our owners have accepted relegation already and aren't willing to fight to stay up, so why should the players?
With how poor this league is, certainly at the bottom, I don't think we'd require promotion form. A good spell of form now, and at least 4 points from our games in hand, and we're right up on Reading's tail again. It is all dependant of course on whether Poya has changed anything in the time he's had to work with the players, and whether we get the 2 midfield players we want.
I've got to say, the last few games while we've been out of action have certainly given us a glimmer of hope in terms of closing the gap... if... we can find some average sort of form. But thats what it comes down to. We've got to do much better than what we are to start to create chances, take them and pick up 3 points here and there. It's not the mountain it seems it was a few weeks ago as we've now games in hand and the gap hasn't gotten much bigger. It's still a huge ask of course.
We won't bring anyone in unless a couple are shipped out. It'll go to the wire which will likely leave us with a last minute loan or two if we're lucky....
Really hope you’re right but I fear we’ve left ourselves too much to do with the games left . Schopp should have gone when players were criticising his training methods or lack of. Not saying that would have made any difference to our points tally or even performances but at least it would have shown they were addressing the situation and at least trying to rectify the situation. Even under the abysmal performances under Danny Wilson I had a little optimism and we need a few wins on the bounce to make me change my mind and cling on to some hope this time and bearing in mind how many wins we’ve had this season there’s no evidence imo to suggest that we’ll start beating teams on the scale we need to have any hope of competing .
I agree that strengthening midfield is the key to our problems this season as that's where you break up opposition attacks and set up your attacking moves. That said I'd also like to see a left back brought in to the squad. I hope it's not too late to save the season though I fear it might be.
A decent midfielder would give us half a chance, as long as Andersen, Helik and Morris can stay fit. If we don’t sign one, I don’t see the point of turning bids down for key players
The CEO did say in his interview we'd already turned bids down this window. Obviously we don't know the levels, but if we hang onto people and get relegated, thats not going to do a great deal for their values.
As much as it grieves me to say it but fans are kidding themselves if they think we can get out of this we are already needing snookers but seriously to hope that a team which has managed to win only 2 games after 24 attempts & then hope they can win somewhere in the region of 10 more games out of 22 is beyond fantasy especially as our leading goal scorer will be missing for most of these games & no sign of any new recruits on the horizon , it is not going to happen . We should be preparing for our attempts to get back next season & start shaping the squad 4 months before our competitors , I personally accepted relegation about two months ago which makes every disappointing result much easier to accept , as they say its the hope that kills you , well I hope we make a fist of getting back next season .
