Rotherham tried but weren’t good enough we’re good enough imo but not trying . Maybe once we know we’re down one or two players might start to play for a transfer to another club and maybe help us to a few more points . I’ll not hold my breath though .
Sailed? After spending half of a season rearranging the deckchairs on the Titanic, the ship has sunk.
Even if we get several wonder signings, the manager still has to pick them, and in the correct positions. With the current gaffer, I wouldn't be too sure about that.
Can honestly see us going without winning again and no matter what the players have to take responsibility here too. Would expect any team to be able to grind out more than 2 wins in 25.
Can’t honestly see us topping 20 points. Think Rotherham’s record is 25 not 23. No chance we’ll beat 25 with that midfield.
It’s definitely 23. https://www.soccerstats.com/team.asp?league=england2_2017&stats=34-rotherham Final match report from that season: https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/39760412
And the players also have to dig deep and be accountable, and I'm not too sure about that either. I don't subscribe to this hung out to dry business, I think they need to stop feeling sorry for themselves.
Who actually gives a monkeys, we are comfortably the worst team in the league by a country mile & we are down , the league table does not lie , lets look to next season now, play some of the fringe players now, give them some experience whilst it doesn"t matter , some of the youngsters on the bench against Barrow & Birmingham could get some game time , invaluable experience for them, lets plan ahead now we have 3 months to play with .
Understand what you're saying and in days of yore I would say the same. But this board will want to squeeze as much game time - 'experience' - as possible out of our first-teamers in order to increase their stats and hopefully their market value before the fire sale in the summer. Hopefully the players can pass it around a bit, build up those possession stats (no hoof ball a la Val because we know that is worthless and wins and finishing in the playoffs don't increase a player's saleability at all), and even if we put some wins together and still get relegated, so long as we sell a few the business model is proved right and we can all be happy knowing that PMG have had a successful window. We can then rebuild and build back better, or something. Maybe have a delve around in the barrel of the second divisions of the Austrian and Slovenian leagues, a little known market that may just churn out the next Marcel Ritzmaier in preparation for our next League 1 promo push. The fanbase may be more alienated than ever in the history of the club, but at least we can safely say we have stuck to the business model. And maybe AI and data will save us #inchienwetrust. (Apologies for the rant)
I'll be honest, I don't think we have a cat in hell's chance of surviving. mathematically the points are there, but I don't think we have anything like what it takes to get them. we've proved time and again this season, that we don't. if we had a blood and thunder, tub-thumping manager, maybe I'd think differently. but we don't. we have an under 21s coach, who inspires zero enthusiasm in me. not an attack on him at all. I just think he's way under qualified for the job at hand.
I honestly can't see a team in the league that we might be capable of beating, at this point. Everyone sees us for what we are: soft as shìt and rudderless; headless baby chicks in CM. And let's be real, Birmingham looked beyond woeful at times, and hadn't won in 10. But if we can't beat that side, who can we? How long does Poya stay in the job without winning? Could he make it to the end of the season? That would be a bizarre record. Edit - I just keep thinking, this must be wrong somehow, I must be remembering it wrong but, it's true: 10 man Barrow scored 4 past us in 45 minutes, at home. They hadn't even scored away from home in 5 games. We only survived because the ref didn't give a blatant penalty for handball in the 90th minute. That fairly represents the progress we've made under the business geniuses that comprise Pacific blah blah group, I reckon.
I do think we'll win more games. christ knows who against, but more because law of averages say we surely have to? however I do think we're looking at 3rd ever lowest points total, if not the 2nd lowest. if either of those transpires, for me Poya would absolutely have to be replaced. I would just hope there was a relegation break clause in there.
