This is the sort of game that through the decades has given us an unexpected 3 points. Our backs against the wall, struggling for form, hope and expectation at a low ebb. Facing adversity of the head coach not being able to coach from the touchlines and a squad depleted by injury and covid. Against an opponent with more history, who have been at a higher tier for much of my time, who are in form and are likely expecting to pick up a win without huge effort. In most other seasons, this has been one of those games that turns the tide and the tables. But I just can't see it this time. Because I think one of the things we lack at this time are character and determination. I'm struggling to see it anywhere throughout the club. From board room to boot room. Adversity has often inspired us to say you're not going to beat us, no, not today. But sadly, those sentiments were for other squads, not this one.
Forest 5 Barnsley 1 We will create chances in the first 20 minutes, not take them, we'll then aim to work on this in training and come back fighting in the next game to turn these chances into goals. All the lads will be up for it and the mood in the camp will be good, they'll all be together and work towards the same goal- unfortunately, the goal they will be working towards wont be the oppositions'.
A limp 3-0 defeat not unlike the one under Morais in 2018. Followed by the assistant gaffer and one of the players saying "we're just getting the little things wrong" for the 14th time in a row and no players signed by the end of the week.
