There will not be 10,000 fans who care enough about the club that have 2k to spare. If they did, it would likely have to be scraped together, and so there’s be nothing else left to invest further for most. And as asked above - what after that? There would be no contingency for anything going wrong, the club would be living on a knife edge. These owners need to go, we mostly all agree. But they did put at least some of their own money in to begin with, c. £6-8million, maybe more. The initial sale price agreed was paid for up front, despite the ongoing arguments about the further instalments and bonuses coming out of the club. They aren’t billionaires, I think that’s obvious enough. So they aren’t likely going to ruin the club to the point they can’t get all or most of their money back out just to spite us. They may even have to cash their chips in this summer, or maybe even sooner, before it gets any worse. I don’t see fan ownership being viable in a place like Barnsley. Not complete ownership anyway. I could be wrong about that - but on a national scale, Barnsley, among a lot of other places around the old industrial north, have a large amount of relative poverty. A lot of folk struggle to pay for season and match tickets; I mean there are families with two lots of full time employment still needing food banks to put a meal on the table for their kids. With inflation spiralling, the cost of utilities going through the roof, unemployment (or at least the lack of good employment), and wages stagnant at best, people will not risk any rainy day fund they might need to pay the gas bill or get some food in from Aldi on their football club. It isn’t beyond all possibility that £20mil could be pledged, but it wouldn’t be 10,000 lots of £2k. You’d have to have say a minimum investment of £500 to £1000, call it one share for £500 - you may then get some more affluent/businesses buying more and manage to sell 40,000 of them. But as I say, I can’t see it working.
5,000 @ £2k should be enough, and probably more feasible. Whitey for General Manager. Gally for Chairman, as he is very wealthy and will probs put more than £2k in. Loko for Commercial Manager Head of Comms. Hemsworth for Head of Tactics. H1cksy for Refreshments Liaison Officer. I'm happy to work a turnstile.
There might be - say - ten wealthy individuals around the world with a strong affinity for BFC who would each put in £2million for joint ownership.
The vast majority if not all Barnsley fans want these owners out,I’d hope Khaled would have some wealthy contacts from his time at Man City,I’m hopeful someone will come in and take us forward.
10 individuals at £2million each with a love of BFC is realistic - but it’s pretty urgent while there is still something left that’s investable.
Khaled needs to go also, he's just as much of a problem. Might be a nice guy etc but he isn't good enough.
It's ok folks. I've got a free go on the Euromillions this Friday. I've heard the top prize is two dozen Austrian Bundesliga players.
