Smacks of nonsense to me. Why would a perspective buyer be giving anonymous statements to a newly formed Facebook group? Would they not be a lot better off making contact with supporters trust if they wanted some level of fan engagement before buying the club. More importantly wouldn't they just .are contact with the current owners and sound them out to see if its even remotely viable.
I agree with you by the way. Unfortunately this is what happens when you get tied to a Facebook Group. If I was a serious investor, I'd be a million miles away from it.
I reckon David Icke is set to take over. Players will wear turquoise shell suits. Fans will have to provide proof of de-vaccination to attend Oakwell. The board of directors will be lizards. * One of these precictions has a familiar ring to it...
Only thing i can think of is 1 because the supporters trust wont back a boycott. 2 if fans boycott it will lower the value of the club. So maybe they want a fan boycott to de value the club. Although the owners seem to be doing a good job of de valueing it without the help of anyone else.
The Supporters’ Trust haven’t been asked to back a boycott. In fact, to be completely honest, there’s not much we can say or publish on this when you’re cut out from the conversation, have requests for meetings turned down, and messages not replied to.
Exactly this, and along the lines of what I was going to reply. The vernacular and writing style matches that of one of the group, though I am not going to call him out as it may be purely coincidental. I'm calling BS on it, whilst retaining a flicker of hope that there really is a sugar daddy / fairy-godmother waiting in the wings. If Luke is reading, I appreciate his dedication as a fan, I appreciate he wants the same end-goal as 99% of Reds, and I will be more than happy to show my ar5e on the town hall steps should something come of this. I am going to briefly put myself in the shoes of Chien Lee or Conway. They are aware of the feeling of the fanbase, of the BBS and most likely the wider social media network. They 'have been contacted" ...... or more likely "are about to be contacted" by an anonymous consortium, that is caught up in a FB Group entitled Conway Out. The FB group now purports to have put out a valid statement that questions their running of the club, their methods and their motive. It directly accuses them of 'mis-management'. Aye, course they are going to welcome an approach from them and do business!! And why would the new potential owners put this little snippet in: "For clarity we did not encourage or advocate the creation of the Facebook group"? What that really reads as, is: "For clarity we did not encourage or advocate the creation of the Facebook group, however we have no other outlet, despite multiple forums and social media platforms at our disposal, therefore we will use said group that we didn't encourage because ........... well ........ yeah, we are actually one and the same"
Well thats pretty ****, they go on about dont spend another penny, be like blackpool etc then they dont want to work with the supporters trust blackpools boycott was supported by the supporters trust. I wasnt having a dig i can understand you not wanting to go all in with a boycott before you speak to conway and get some answers.
Personal opinion. We’re nowhere near the level of Blackpool yet and I think those comparisons at this stage are quite dangerous. Their owners completely checked out at every level and appeared to be pocketing significant finds from being in the Premier League. For us, in terms of on the field issues, it’s solely down to the recruitment of playing and coaching staff being absolutely appalling. We didn’t check out this Summer we just made some bizarre and questionable decisions.
I see comments are turned off from the Facebook post. Surely any credible buyout group would be issuing any statements through their solicitor? Not Luke from Facebook?
Definitely blackpool fans were still supporting after the relegation from the premier league. I remeber going under flicker in 2013 i think it was and the attendance was near on 16k with not a massive away following. It was after the sale of tom ince matt philips and the rest of the parachute payments going alongside relegation that caused the boycott. Still questions need to be answered loke the 750k? Where is the rest of the money coming from for installments? Why did we approach other clubs for ground share? One not even in yorkshire was this just scare tactics to for ground sale?
Exactly. If their business acumen is anything like their writing style / Official Statement, we are truly in a mess. I can’t treat this with any credibility whatsoever.
Looks like some wind up merchant has far too much time on their hands. And even if there was something in it, I'm not sure I would want the club to be taken over by a group that think that a closed Facebook group called Conway Out is a suitable Comms channel.
Ridiculous, someone, a not very bright someone with too much time on their hands, is on a wind up and will be wetting themselves at the attention it's getting. If we are expected to believe that whoever wrote that is able of putting in millions and then capable of co ordinating and running a multi million £ business then we may as well believe in Conway apologising and giving back the £750k. Think I'd rather stick with the devils we know. Hogwash.
