I think I've said before, I didn't think of him as having just one approach. Once we had Dike, our pressing of opponents back 3 was very different and he tended to play higher as a target with the other two front men more behind him.

His press altered too when it was played, though that was more subtle how it was channelled and at times we didn't press.

Over the very latter part, we did start to see teams find a way of getting at our back line though. The dinked ball over the top that wasn't near the keeper and trying to get pacy midfield runners in.

It certainly wasn't easy for opposition to play against, but there were a few chinks in the system starting to show at times.

Opponents have managed to get at his team more this season. Whether that's fitness, willingness, the change in substitute rules, I wouldn't know, I've not seen any WBA game this season.

I stand by everything I've posted about Val today. I though he was brilliant for us and do wonder when we'll next make the Championship Play Offs?

We could juggle it around & put Poya in charge of youth development being has that was his brief with Sweden under 21"s but I know I am clutching at straws, I would love him back & to his critics I ask one simple question , " Do you think we would be rock bottom with 14 points if Val had been in charge all season " ?

    Bring him home !!
Most successful manager since Basset , over twenty years ago no one had come close since and the insults of hoofball are rubbish we were sublime against Bournemouth and other games.

He did very well with what he had. Its been shown after his departure. Though there were plenty of other issues that's gone into our speedy demise.

I still have zero desire to ever watch another game he's involved in though ;-)

When will we make the Championship Play Offs again? 2041/42? :)

Depends if you believe Conways claims of flirting with the play offs moderately frequently. Though he probably doesn't want to reach them, given how much he moaned at the expense of doing so.

    I’m a bit confused…

…your best mate - the one who you go out for a beer every Friday night - runs off not only with your wife but your daughter too. For good measure he also takes your loyal dog as well. Six months later, after work on a Friday you see him in town - and because you haven’t been out on Friday night (since he ran off with everything you care for) you decide to ask him if he fancies a beer.

Is that the general consensus of the Ismael Disciples? o_O

Dho don’t know how to bump a post this Christmas gone.To be honest I think Val has the temperament to ruffle a few feathers which hasn’t helped him at West Brom

Val did a brilliant job. If we tried to get him back we would have to commit to changing the style permanently as he would naturally be off again first chance he got (along with our backroom staff)

Your forgetting the daughter and dog in your equation ;)

For reference, It was written with my tongue firmly in my cheek though I do agree with it's sentiment - however badly it's written

If that happened, then Barnsley FC would have been successful. It's far better to play pathetic football, pick up pathetic results, be well on course for the worst season in the club's entire history and have a toxic, divided club(!) :)

Ha ha ha!!! When you put it like that, I must admit it does sound a bit daft,,,, but under Val it was different kind of crap football!! Under Poya, it’s crap, but at least we’re trying to play football (albeit in a crappy way)

The board can put a 3 million release clause in next time........ They can just keep selling Val and rehiring him till the club is bought

Tbh even the sentiment is flawed especially in football as I don’t know anyone who wouldn’t leave a job for six or even seven times their current rate .
There’s no loyalty in football or even any job for that matter where the riches and or rewards are far greater and anyone says different is either a liar or stupid imo .
Why wouldn’t you want someone who made us so successful ?
I get the tongue in cheek but the sentiment is way out imo .

it depends on a few things - if there’s a liquidated damages clause / he’s entered into a settlement agreement and so on
