Things may well be worse at Nancy. I suppose the point is it's just further evidence of failure by our ownership group.
Going down with lowest points total ever is still going down. Still end up in the same pit. Makes no odds to anyone but the fans; owners couldn't give a sh it.
Potentially yes. But I’m still waiting for someone to explain the background on why they were under a transfer embargo this Summer. Of all the clubs in distress that they bought I’m led to believe Nancy was the worst of them.
It can absolutely be fixed in one Summer. It isn’t like we didn’t recruit players or invest, that’s why these lack of investment claims don’t make sense unless you’re happy for the owners to loan us money. The problem was we recruited terribly due to not having a CEO or a strong enough/new Head Coach. All about margins. If we’d signed another Morris rather than Oulare, or a Hourihane/Mowatt rather than Benson, the team would look a million times better this season straight away. That can be fixed for sure.
Agree Loko it can be fixed....but the question on a lot of lips is...do they want to fix it Their model of trading players works better in lower leagues
The problem was we recruited terribly due to not having a CEO or a strong enough/new Head Coach. And we now have a puppet as a CEO and a very weak head coach that spends each game looking lost
Heard this argument. But if last season happens without Covid then some of these players would have left for mega bucks and we’d have been able to reinvest at a better standard then before. The model doesn’t work full stop when you don’t sign any players with leadership qualities.
This with bells on it Loko!.....I think our board have shown their intent and messed up big style this season. A half decent summer (just 2 players would have done) or the replacement of a half decent coach would have put us safe this season, then we could have built on that...we have had two attempts at coaches and failed dramatically this time....the second time was dissapointing to say the least....would we spend a million (for a decent coach) to save £6million (relegation)?......we have that answer.
I'm happy for the owners to invest in their business like owners of the majority of businesses do all over the world and my point still stands it can be improved but the owners have to WANT to improve it.
So you’re happy for the owners to provide loans to the football club, like at other football clubs across the country? They invested by buying (or not actually buying - that’s a far bigger discussion point and issue) the football club. Nothing says they have to then put their own money in and be owed back in the hope we’re successful. They were clear when they bought us that wouldn’t be the case.
There's nothing wrong with the model that a bit of flexibility wouldn't solve. We need some experienced heads, we shouldn't be trying to make a profit on every player we sign.
both hourihane and mowatt took more than a season to get up to speed - so on that knowledge even if we’d signed an exact replica of one of those in the guise they were when we first bought them in the summer it wouldn’t have necessarily improved the team, we need to be signing those players whilst we still have the quality ones so they can step in when they leave who knows - if we’d signed benson the season before and he’d had a season at the side of mowatt perhaps we’d be in a better place and the transition smoother. Problem is we’re signing rookies to directly replace experience and quality at the point they leave - it’s never going to work.
Mowatt could have hit the ground running for us if he’d been managed properly and not stuck out on the left wing. In my opinion. We didn’t make him this amazing player because he was already on his way to that with his performances for L***s. My point on him and Hourihane is the amount of first team football they’d played before joining, compared to who we did sign. It would have stood us in better stead for the season.
I think it is fair to say that PMG haven't got a clue. I'm not sure what they are trying to do, other than ruin my weekends. Answers on a postcard.
