I live just around the corner from there but never been in, similar story with Shaw Inn, only been in once or twice. What beer they sell is a big thing for me and unfortunately they don't serve anything I'd be willing to pay for. I'd rather walk a bit further and get a decent pint. I realise that probably makes me a bit of a pub snob, but it is what it is...
Places just out of town will sadly always struggle. The majority of people will walk a short distance to town to go around a few different places and cheaper.
I know what you're saying and can't fault for it. I'm slightly different and always have been. McDs or local cafe ....... local pub or town centre ...... Asda or local shop ....... wherever possible I'll always support and spend in the smaller independents. One day we,'ll have not much choice but to fund the multi billion companies. Sad but true.
It was my local for years when I lived at Kingstone, always a friendly place. Also used to call in for a couple on my way into Tarn on Fridays and Saturdays. Just round the corner on a now demolished side street was the best fish and chip shop in Yorkshire, run by I believe a gay couple in their 50's or 60's. Few beers, then in for fish & chips Simple times, great times. No smartphone times. It's the nostalgia that kills you
Cracking chippy that. Used to walk down from Broadway at lunchtime. The name of it is on the tip of my tongue but it’s killing me that I can’t remember it
Used to go in quite a bit in the 70’s and The Shaw Inn , not sure if it was the Loncar or Shaw where the landlord got done for drug dealing a few years back
Rewired it back in the 70s...Wendy Caddick England women's darts player was the landlady...dont think I've been in since
