Available & local he would 100% have taken the job mid way through Schopp. Look at the Blades now. Stick to the spreadsheet though James.
I think there might just be a little bit of a difference between the quality of Sheff United squad and ours though !! Fair play to Hecky but all he has really done is revert back to what they were doing under Wilder which was a fairly obvious approach to take.
The legend that never was. Truly pathetic and boring. Come up with something new ffs, trying to discredit someones opinion based on what? Is that site admins purpose these days? whilst the site is dying on its ar.se hmmm Tea and biscuits if you look back 12 years was a TFP joke ffs concentrate on keeping the code on the site us to date
He was supposedly talked in to taking the Blades job. More than happy to coach their U23’s for the next few years in a steady job near his family which is probably why he got such a long contract. As he said when he was with us - once you take the managers job you know you won’t be there long, you either do well & get head hunted or you get sacked after a bad run. Basically I doubt Barnsley would’ve made it worth his while to give up a relatively secure job like Sheff Utd have. And who knows if he even gets on with the board. Would he have done well? I doubt it. I don’t think anyone would’ve done well with us this season. Maybe slightly better but still no better than in a relegation battle whoever was in charge. Let’s not forget that for decent chunks of the season Moon, Adeboyejo, Palmer, Kitching, Cole, Gomes, J. Williams etc have had to play due to availability of others & none of them look championship standard this season.
It was tongue in cheek. Don't be so sensitive. No different to reminding certain posters about the Hungarian Takeover or the Town Hall Steps that never happened. The stuff of BBS legend.
Hecky seemed to run his cause at Oakwell but was done over with that awful January. His issue is he never learned from his mistakes. As much as I wouldn’t want him back, he’s better than this ***** we have now.
A nice thought but wasn’t he the first Coach to ‘sus’ the new Owners and jump ship after 3 months? I really couldn’t see him want to come back here.
You say that it's fairly obvious but we had one of our best ever seasons last year playing in a very specific way, and nobody's thought to revert to that!
People have very short memories. Having completely fkd us off, he went on to be $hite at both Leeds and hibs. The blades fans were furious when he got the job and most Barnsley fans (that commented here at least) were ‘chuffed to bits’ that he’d been given it. Fast forward a few weeks and all of a sudden he’s pep guardiola Personally speaking, Paul heckingbottom is the single reason why I’ll never have emotional attachment to another manager again.
Think the blunts were getting into their stride just as they sacked their manager. Heckingbottom building on it now with a good chance of top 6 ( which given that they only really lost their goalie shouldn't be beyond them. Getting Hourihane was a good move too)
4-5-1 with Mowatt out on loan ba bum Mowatt out on loan ba bum. 4-5-1 with Mallan on the bench ba bum Mallan on the bench ba bum. 4-5-1 with Moncur on the bench ba bum Moncur on the bench ba bum. 4-5-1 with Mcgeehan out on loan ba bum Mcgeehan out on loan ba bum. 4-5-1 and I haven't got a scooby doo bi doo ant got a scooby do bi doo.
Nope, I meant at Oakwell. Fair play to him for taking more money at a local rival, I would have done the same. No loyalty in football.
