There's no-one with money behind the campaign, it was a stunt to get everyone's attention, which has backfired and lost them credibility. Maybe they now have some grudging respect for the Trust, after seeing on two occasions how difficult it is to organise something and deliver it successfully.

I don’t think that’s quite fair on ‘football fans’ generally Churton. Many are very well organised. Barnsley fans on the other hand are a combination of ‘apathetic’ ( that’s why a the biggest protest yesterday came from the 4-5,000 ST holders who didn’t turn up) ‘cap doffers’ (those who if they were being tortured by their ‘betters’, would shout for more whilst tugging their forelock’s) and those who do care, but really need someone else to ‘sort it out’. It’s going to be more tough years ahead.

Alternatively people aren't idiots and won't support a cause set up by a fake person falsely using a local businessman's name that is shrouded in secrecy with mystery investors who have an unlimited amount of money and who state that business acquisitions are not played out in public but calls upon the public to protest on their behalf.

I have nothing but respect for the intentions of people like Luke and co but they have gone about this disastrously and made so many fatal mistakes that they've completely ruined their campaign before it got off the ground.

Give me evidence of investors willing to take over. Give me a plan. Give me something and I will support you.

Give me a poster and a group of hooligans smashing the toilets up and I want nothing to do with it.

4,000 to 5,000 is a bit of a stretch. Nearly 50% empty seats?

It’s right to consider that though. Some people are not going - but it isn’t just because of the owners. Life after COVID, the fact we’re losing, and issues with the owners.

From the 25/30 season ticket holders that I know that aren’t going, 80% of that is life after COVID and other priorities rather than any form of protest. It’s important we deal in facts and not rumours again though, so if the protest didn’t work or catch on, we can’t then switch it to people not going. You have to ask why, but for some reason that discussion gets shot down really quickly.

Agree with that. It's a bit of everything isn't it.

There are still some who are scared to leave the house. Some are ok leaving the house but scared of large gatherings. Some are happy to be in large gatherings but 18 months of restrictions and changes mean they now do other things on Saturdays and football is much less important to them.

The closure of beaver court (which the club simply HAS to be more forceful in getting overturned) coupled with the closure of the bridge and the closure of the slip road make getting to oakwell an absolute nightmare. I know that the hassle of getting there and getting home has stopped people from attending. It's stopped 3 people I know personally.

The cold weather coupled with the winless run has put off so many people.

Then there are those who are doing it out of protest but they aren't everybody and nobody has any idea how many it is.

80% of 30 is 24. Why did the 24 season ticket holders who you know who are no longer attending because of 'life after Covid' buy a season ticket?

There were easily 4 held up in the vicinity of me in the Ponte. But definitely can't constitute a protest live and learn.

Because of habit? Because they can afford to? Because they're still die hard Barnsley fans and still come to games, just don't treat it as a priority if other stuff is going on?

We are all individuals and make our own choices.

If supporting the club now means supporting the current owners then I’ll wait until some better ones come along.

That’s 45 years of support and over that time we have been amazing, good, bad and indifferent.

Every single one of you can make up your own mind on what to do, it doesn’t make you a ‘happy clapper’ or a ‘better person’. Equally it doesn’t make someone with differing views wrong.

These points are a significant factor. Life isn't back to normal for many people yet and they're not back in to the routine they had before.

Odd that you seem to know so many people who buy tickets to something they don't intend to go to.

@Jay You forget that Barnsley folk are one of the most philanthropic when it comes to funding billionaire experiments!

My experience of Barnsley folk is that if they've paid for it they're damn well going to use it, even if they don't like it! Loko is friends with a huge bunch of people who are not like any Barnsley people I know.

Why is it odd? Or are you trying to suggest I'm making it up? It happens every season that people have season tickets and don't go to all the games (I was one of those for three or four seasons when I was working in London).

Mate who sits next to me would normally make 50/60% of home games. He's made two this season I think. Another couple of mates who normally travel up for 80/90% of games have been buying tickets for gigs and festivals and not bothering to check the fixture list before doing so (plus tickets rolling over from last year when everything was cancelled).

Bloke in front lives in Barnsley and post Covid just doesn't treat it as a priority so has missed a few. Mainly midweek. And another one came to the pub yesterday to drop off some Chronicles for an exile, but on the walk to Oakwell said he was going for the bus home.

Add to that families I know with the free/cheap kids tickets and there's just other things that they treat as a priority because the quality on the pitch is poor. Not because they're protesting the owners. A few wins and some sunshine and that would likely change.

I can guarantee you've stood/sat in the 7 and had a pint with some of them.

In fairness Jay I know quite a few people who bought tickets without any intention of going yet. In order to keep your seats for when you do intend to go back you have to buy your tickets don't you

Yes it does, but the ground still looks full (or at least on par with the number of season tickets we've sold) because we've always had such fans, so they don't have a big impact on the usual attendance. This season there's a clear and obvious impact on attendance. And anyway, we're not talking about these people are we, we're talking about people who are not going because of life after Covid.

Loko, you always make stuff up to suit your argument.

Mate - don't say things like that without backing it up. I've never told a single lie or made anything up to suit a discussion. I never use the word argument. Poor form there Jay.
