Yeah. I imagine Russian athletes get told to swallow tablets/have injections on a no questions asked basis. Based on history it seems Russian cases of doping are likely to be as a result of a state sponsored program rather than individual error/decision.
I can't remember the substance that was present in his system. Although I probably wouldn't know the means by which it is administered if I could. It doesn't make him guilty by any means (the drug testing does though!) but if you'd lined up our squad at the time, told me that one amongst them was taking performance enhancing drugs, then asked me to guess which one, I don't believe I would have needed two guesses.
That's pretty much what they found last time I think. Quite sad really as I'm sure she could probably get gold without them resorting to these underhand tactics.
I think the excuse that apparently it got in her system after sharing a glass of water with her Grandad was real piss take. I really don't agree with letting her compete. but not get a medal either. You either ban her and her team(as they are as guilty as she is), or clear her to compete fully.
She's a beautiful, expressive, talented skater. I hope she gets another chance if found guilty, obviously she will have to face a ban but skating will be her life. I must admit, how do you know what you're taking when you're an elite athlete. Like our footballers having injections for pain management, they must trust our medical staff that what they're getting isn't a banned substance to a certain extent?
You should read the list of what "legal" substances she was on. Never mind her grandad's cough mixture (which they're aparently having trouble finding his prescription for btw)
