I heard that too. I bet they wish they'd waited now and opened flannels in Debenhams and Fraser's in HoF

When I walked in flannels in the cloths department I thought who the **** has thought this up it,s like walking through a place that’s closing down the layout is awful, like someone else said I can,t see it lasting.

Stupid to you maybe but the high street needs to do something different to attract people away from shopping online. I think coffee shops, cocktail bars, catwalks, giant digital screens with exclusive content, etc. are one of many ways to cater to those who are choosing to order everything online and having their social experiences elsewhere.

13 screens is punchy but you’ve got to admire the ambition. Not sure what Cineworld do these days to try and drive those quieter evenings but at least with popular chains like Harvester and Nando’s that ‘full night out’ can be catered for.

I’d love to have a stake in a pub in Barnsley but it’s that Monday-Thursday that worries me. Also rely on the football crowds being decent and that’s just heading one way right now!

I agree in general but not the way flannels have done it. It just looks **** and cold

    A brief update:

    Nando’s opens on 9th March.

Fit out of Cineworld has finally commenced! A project this size would usually take around 6 months so I suspect my initial suggestion of a September opening is about right. Possibly August if the fit out isn’t quite as long. Either way, it’s good to see things finally progressing on site.

I see there's something started at Market Gate; maybe preparation for the long awaited bridge?

In years to come, we'll be saying, I went to Oakwell when we had to walk on a half mile diversion around the town when it was pissing it down and see us be so crap we were relegated. We'll miss these days.

But it’s neither of those. We aren’t getting a House of Fraser either. The store Frasers Group (previously known as Sports Direct Retail) are opening is called Cruise. Cruise is a sister store to Flannels. They look like Flannels inside and sell very similar products.

I’ve heard that a number of retail stores are salivating at the opportunities soon to be presented in the glassworks.
Oxfam, Age UK & Scope are the leading players apparently.

Must be right then, as usual when it comes to Tarn, all things that can been seen as negatives without source or foundations must be kept at the forefront to fit the narrative

I've heard The Glassworks & it's environs are a wonderful place to spend a hour or two along with --------
    The Lightroom (Library)
The Experience Barnsley Museum (Town Hall - wonderful building)
St. Georges yard area & arcade.
Falco Lounge (upstairs- love the artwork & decor)
    Oakwell - obviously
A number of its drinking establishments.
    I love Barnsley me!
